Default Newbie looking for ADVICE

Hello all. Just purchased my very first Corvette--a 2003 Z06 with 6,107 original miles from the original owner. She is black with black interior. This was a replacement for my 1989 IROC-Z that I sold after 22 years of ownership. The Z06 is bone stock and I am interested in any suggestions for modifications, both aesthetically and mechanical, as well as any maintenance concerns, storage concerns (I am in the Northeast), and any other advice. I plan to keep her for the next 25 years.

I already purchased a Deltran battery tender and I just ordered the GM front license plate frame to fill in the gap around the front plate required here in NY.

My most immediate need is a quality indoor car cover right now. Any suggestions???

I also plan to get Lloyds mats.

In addition to any car cover suggestions, I am most interested in cold air intakes, any other interior upgrades, fog/driving light suggestions, black-out lens suggestions, rear spoilers, etc.

Also, any suggestions for Corvette Club(s) to join?

THANKS!

Do you have the maintenance records, if any, on the car? There are a couple of immediate maintenance items that I would be concerned about.
The first is the tires. If they are the original Goodyear F-1 tires (check date codes) they are now 10 years old. They have lost a huge amount of their elasticity and will be hard as a rock and probably starting to dry rot. I would replace them.
The second is the Dexcool engine coolant. GM suggests 5 year change cycle. If it has not been changed, that should be high on your priority list. A fresh engine oil change might not be a bad idea unless you have a record of a recent change.
For a cold air intake, I like the Calloway Honker a bunch. Great fit and finish, great filtration as opposed to some other systems, and has shown measurable dyno power increase.

Thanks. It has had 2 oil changes and a new battery. I am going to change all of the fluids--oil, coolant, diff, gear box, clutch, and brake fluid. Yes, original tires. Old, but no sign of dry rot. I will be storing the car soon here in the Northeast. Will be looking at tire replacement in Spring.

If the last 5 digits of your VIN are less than 07000, you might consider replacing your valve springs:

Also do a forum search for "steering column lock" to find a cheap and easy maintenance task that might save you from a big headache later on down the road.

Buy new tires, those are dangerous! Then just read threads on the forum, there is so much info here. Welcome aboard.

My is a late 2003. Vin is in the 24,000's. Also, it had a recall done for the column lock issue. Thanks!
