I'm going to look at some new wheels for my C5 tomorrow.
The ones I found are C6 OEM 5 spoke style. The rears are the OEM 19" and the fronts are aftermarket 17". My question is what tire sizes would i need in order for this combo to work?
I don't really know how to figure this out but i'm sure some of you guys on the forum do and think this question is too easy!!
I'm sure that someone has run that size combo but it seems strange to me. You need to maintain the rake of the car so the overall size difference between the front and rear tires needs to be around an inch.
Than means the rear tire will have a slightly lower profile than the fronts since the wheel an 2 inches larger.
I just put new tires on my stock C5 rims and the diameters are F=25inches and R=26.1 inches with stock 17/18 inch rims. Going with a 19 rear rim would reduce your sidewall by 1/2 inch. Not sure that is going to look right.
If you really want the 19 inch rears, you might want to consider looking for mathcing 18 inch fronts.
Yea it's a bit of a weird combo....but the price is right i'd like to see if anybody else is running this combo and what size tires they went with!
Just be sure you keep the rake correct or you'll be dealing with AH/TC problems. The sensors will not know what to do and you'll have some unpredictable intervention from the computer. Depending on when the computer decides to intervene, this could be very dangerous.
From what i've gathered it seems if i get the tire sizes to keep the rake within an inch of each other I shouldn't have any AH/TC problems. If anyone has different information please let me know!!
I ended up getting the wheels. Still not sure how the size difference will look on the vehicle....but I picked up chrome C6 5 spokes with new tires for $600....so for that price i'm going to give it a try!
The fronts have 245/45/R17 and the back have 295/30/R19...the overall diameter on those are 25.7 and 26.1 so hopefully there wont be any issues with the AH/TC!! Thanks for all the input!!
