Shifter noise

I have a 2001 M6. The sifter just started making a squeaking noise when I shift from 2 - 3, or 4 - 5, or 5 - 6. It is not the leather boot around the shifter. Mechanically it seems OK in terms of getting into gear without problems.

Any experience with this?

Mounting may be loose, needs lubrication, or mounting bushings need to be replaced. Here is a link that may help. Let us know how it goes.

When you yoink it apart to have a look at the mounts, don't forget to check the seal on the shift rod while you are there. The rod enters the shift box at the bottom rear.
