Default Passenger side door/window switch lights

Greetings,
The lights on the passenger side interior door lock / window switch go on and off at will. Sometimes they will stay and work as expected. Sometimes they will not come on at all.

I have new bulbs so I know that is not the problem. Testing the switch by removing the drivers side and plugging in the passenger side switch makes the lights on the switch come on.

Do the wires that plug into the switch, plug into something else inside the door panel? How hard is it to remove the door panel and trace the wires?

Thanks for the help.

It's not difficult at all to remove the door panel. Remove the plastic cover behind the door handle carefully, and unscrew the two bolts found there. Then pry off the plastic trim around the door-opening release lever by inserting a screwdriver into the small slots and prying the front pair (top and bottom) of catches loose--the rear pair should come loose when you lift this trim piece away. There are plastic pins around the sides and bottom and hooks on the top edge of the door panel. Use a plastic "crow bar" or the like to pry and pop all the pins, then just lift the panel up and off. You can then get under the switches and pop it out of the door panel, reach the wiring, etc. Reassemble in reverse order.

Thank you for the great write up. I may give it a try today, my football team is not doing that great so I will have time.

There are two plugs the rest inside the door boot, between the door and the body. Check the connections. Also, I recently had the same issues. Although, when the lights would shut off, everything on that side would become non-funtional, locks wouldnt work, window wouldnt move, either from the passanger or driver switch. I let it go for a few days, as I had a day off coming up and was going to mess with it then. Suddenly I started to get a Reduced power warning, all my guages when to red, and every light on my dash came on. This would only happen when the lights were out on my passanger door switch. I read here, about cleaning the ground located throughout the vehicle. I cleaned the two under the hood, but still had the issue. I then clean the one located in the passanger kick panel, also cleaned where it bolted to the frame. Its been 4 days, and I have yet to have any issues with the switch, or lights since. Im hoping that fixed.

Moral of the story, check that ground at the passanger kick.

Thank you Mike D.
I might have a day off on either Sat or Sunday so maybe I can take look then.
I am not experiencing any other issues, just the flicker lights on the passenger side.

Thanks again.

It sounds like you have a loose ground wire. Pulling the door apart is easy. The noises the plastic tabs make coming out are awful.
