The new blend doors I recieved externally look the same. Both 7 pin. But internally they're a little different. They are aftermarket. But the old one has an extra blue gear that seems to be missing on the new one. I'd hate to put the whole thing back together only to have to tear it apart again. Will this difference cause a functional issue or is it simply an aftermarket difference?

If it was $45, it is most likely not for Auto AC. However, the pinouts make me think possibly it's correct. Your photos look VERY similar to mine with the exception that my new one (guessing also a "Dorman" brand) had that extra gear. Mine was white, not blue. There is a potentiometer under that gear, and that is the analog signal used for door position. Now, I'm not going to say they cannot have another system under the main gear for positioning, or that there isn't a pot elsewhere. They could also use a ratiometric hall effect sensor on the main drive gear for that too. It's anyones guess. Looking at the wiring connector, it appears to me you have the one you want. The manual AC system one I bought (and then cannibalized for the gear) had a different pinout setup on it. See how yours uses 10,9,7,6,5, well the manual ones use ... something else. Cant recall exactly. I have photos posted in another thread here somewhere.
There is absolutely no good reason for the price to be so high for the auto one other than they like screwing us with the auto ac. In my case, they were almost 100% identical, other than the pinouts and some mechanical differences very much like yours. If you look on your right unit, it has the plastic stop on the big drive gear inside the case, where your other one on the left has it outside the case and on the side not shown.
You do not have to actually install the thing to test it out. All the stops are on the unit, so if you just hit the key with it plugged in, it'll cycle and either throw codes or not. From there, you can just do that again and turn the key off when the gears are near center position so they're easier to assemble back into the car. Then stick em in.
If you do find these to work, please post a link to where you got em cause lots of folks would like to have a 1/3 price version for their car too.
You da man Spaz! I'll plug them in and cycle them as soon as we get back from the Texans game. Gotta plug in the cluster but that's easy. My pass side one had the cracked gear like yours, driver side was ok. If the new one works- I'll give the functional one away at this years cotvetteforum 'pay it forward' Christmas thread. Will post results and pics. Thanks bro. I owe you a coldbeer (one word in Texas)
