Alpha Nav Head Units
Has anyone bought the Alpha Nav AN5650NV from Dennis yet? I have been looking a this HU for some time and I do not want to make the same mistake twice. I bought a SoundStream NRB7870 HU because it had a lot of functions for a cheap price. Well, you get what you pay for. I hated it and had tons of problems with it. Ipod would not sync, bluetooth would not connect my phone, and it was as slow as a 40 year old computer. That is why I am asking questions now. If you have bought this HU:
1. How is working for you?
2. How does it compare to an upper level model? (Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.)
3. How is the speed of different functions? Does it respond quickly?
4. Overall, how do you like it and would you recommend it?
Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

What have you heard from those customers on this product ? I am kinda on a budget and I will be buying from you, but I need to have DVD that plays off of Ipod, Nav and Bluetooth for hands free phone. How does it compare to Pioneer and Kenwood?
Everyone has been very happy with the units espcially the NAV portion.
Its simple and easy to use. I had 1 radio come back as he didnt like the front USB connection - they have now changed it to rear USB connection so issue solved. One other come back with a screen issue. This is not uncommon to have a unit from any brand come back now and then since we are dealing with electronics. So nothing to worry about as we simply replace it is all.
iPod/iPhone performance
Both the AN5650NV and the AN5700NV will control an iPod or iPhone for audio playback, with an intuitive touch screen for ease of use. The AN5650NV will also play back iPod video, with direct control from the AN5650NV’s touch screen.
Just an FYI if it matters
Our Black Friday deals for the Alpha Nav will be
549.99
to send your bezel for modification into a double din with ash tray stock black
and the install kit(roem-vet1, brackets, antenna adapter)
The Pioneer x940 will be 699.99 for radio and bezel mod plus a 100.00 mail in rebate
both plus shipping
You can not go wrong with either if you ask me
I am hoping other will give some input as I would rather you hear it from a customer versus me trying to sell you a product

Either way, you'll not go wrong dealing with Dennis.

The Pioneers tend to be significantly cheaper than the Kenwoods and other brands so still you get what you pay for I guess.

An article about the new units with rear USB (important to me). It will also now display Album art, unlike the unit in the video above.

And an article about compatibility with the new iPhone 5's

I'm like you, wishing there was more info on such an unknown unit.

Thanks for the reply
I have sent out a bunch of these to customers. I would love it for more people to reply.
Just an FYI as well. We are pretty much the only authorized source to purchase from online.
Far and away my biggest gripe of the decent in-dash GPS units are that they are either slow to boot and functions/menus are clunky (Kenwood) or use a proprietary, crappy GPS (Alpine)
Wish someone would offer one of these puppies running a standard Android Rom, that would be the cat's ***.

The response time of the unit in the video seems to be fairly snappy moving between menus compared to others I've seen. As far as android, I know the Parrot Asteroid does but it is supposed to pretty much be a piece of junk. I'm sure plenty of people have modded a phone/tablet into their cars. I haven't really looked into it yet.
I'm really just looking for good iPod control, BT control in a touch screen interface - something that the 1 DINs haven't been good at so far. The GPS and cameras have been secondary to me.
