Removing Ebrake Boot without taking apart console?
I just ordered new leather boots for my shifter and ebrake and while I know how to install both I was just wondering if you can install the ebrake boot without having to take apart console. That would be much easier. Thanks
Could I possibly just rip it off the bolts? It sounds bad but it just don't want to take out the console and risk messing something up or braking it.
There is a wire reinforcement in the perimeter of the boot. Ripping it, would probably be a challenge, unless the boot is dry rotted.
You would probably only have to remove the rear section of the console to gain access. It's only four nuts - two at the back of the storage area and two under the tombstone. It's not a big deal. Just don't forget to plug in your fuel door release when you put it back together and Bob's your uncle!

I would just take the console loose - it is not difficult at all and there are excellent instructions on the Vette Essentials web site. If you were close by I would be glad to help you do it. Done mine a number of times.
