The 235 is a little hot. But if it was 100 deg + out in traffic with the air on then no...I have aftermarket rad/also fans I run 210 to 220 in 100+ in traffic with the air on..You may need to have the rad cleaned out and new coolant put in.... Robert

When I had my car tuned I had them lower the temp settings for the fans and now the car never runs over 210 even in traffic.

Have you checked the fans??? Standard temp for the fans to go on is low speed mode is 225 degrees. (BOTH fans operate in either low speed or high speed modes. If you have only one fan running (or none) then you have either fuse or relay issues (Fuses 14, 46 and 49 and relays 43, 44 and 45 in the engine compartment fuse box). If the engine cools to 219 degrees the fans (both) go off. If the engine temp reaches 235 degrees then both fans go on in high speed mode. If the engine temp drops to 226 degrees then the fans revert to low speed mode. The fans are commanded OFF is the vehicle speed exceeds 35mph irrespective of engine temp. GM apparently feels that air flow through free wheeling fans is a better setup than running the fans above 35mph.

You should also check the coolant level as well as the condition of it. If it has never been changed, it past due. Owners manual says 5 years or 150K miles WHICH EVER COMES FIRST.
this fall with cooler temps. it runs around 198-- summer here in arizona in town runs up to 235

Indeed. If you don't like these temp's, get a Dewitts radiator. With it, on the hottest summer day in Southern California, I barely break 200.
