Get some more 3M tape. Don't screw it up in an effort to save 10 minutes; you won't be happy with the outcome and you'll kick yourself in the **** for being impatient. Oh yes, make sure that the area is cleaned well with alcohol so that you don't have to do it a third time.
Before you begin, take two fingers of your favorite beverage and sit down in the recliner and savor the liquid. Done? Now...get to work

Agree with Mike, re-do it if you have to. The reason why it probably didn't stick is because the area may not have been cleaned well enough. Use dishwashing soap followed by alcohol to thoroughly prep the area.
Additional suggestion-clean with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner p/n 08984. Takes off everything-waxes, silicons and the like and doesn't harm paint (unless it's brand new). Get new tape and 3M also makes an adhesive promoter that comes in pad form to treat the surface in preparation for bonding. Can't remember the number but body shop supply places have it. My $.02.

Sorry; don't have a digital camera. Even If I did I am not a techy and have no Idea how to load them on the site or to a thread :<( Tried my cell when I installed all the black chrome mesh screens start to finish but when I went to review they were all gone. Yes I did press save on every pic
Clean spears and surface area with alcohol as mentioned, then warm tape with a hair dryer so tape is tacky. Use a spacer to get spears perfectly parallel to each other. I have had mine on for 8 years with no problems. Good luck.
