Hi guys, I run the UK's biggest Hail repair company and yearly come across to the States to help with the hail damage over there. Because of my business I am an avid (my wife says geek) storm chaser but the main reason I do what I do is because of my love of cars. I see on a daily basis the problems and hurt these storms can do for enthusiasts cars and would never wish it on anyone. As these storms are so concentrated and predictable my best advise would be to keep your eye on the weather rather than building a permanent cover. Use sites such as intellicast who track and warn of these storms. If one is heading your way you can either make space under cover or protect as much as possible. Blankets covering the car may not fully protect it but will defiantly help. If quarter size hail thick blankets will save, if 1/2 dollar size or more they may save from being a total loss or conventional to PDR. If there was a cost effective hail protector then they would be sold everywhere in the states but there isn't. Just make sure that if you are ever unfortunate enough to be caught in a storm, use a qualified PDR technician, Vale Training Solutions and www.PDRNation.org offer lists of competent techs. Hail may make me a living but I would be the first to warn anyone I knew that loved their car that a storm was heading their way and to get it undercover.
