[Z06] New windshield... (HUD)

New windshield... (HUD)
So,,, recently installed HUD in my 01 Z06... windshield was severely cracked ( beyond) repair while re installing dash ( don't ask how)
Have an appt for a new HUD windshield on Tuesday. Will cost me a measly $200 deductable. I think i made out pretty well... Thank goodness for GOOD insurance.

I have State Farm, and my agent is totally cool. He loves my car, too. LOL
I have a rock chip that is close to my line of sight on the driver side of the windshield. Bugs the crap out of me. Thinking about talking to my agent to see if he can do anything for me.

What windshield you getting ?
- I know that there is the standard windshield which people say reflect the HUD just fine, but its not really a HUD windshield. (early C5's with no HUD)
- There is also the windshield with the special reflector build into it for the HUD. (Coupe/Vert with HUD)
- Then there should be the HUD "THIN" Z06 windshield 02-04.
- I guess your windshield would be the "THIN" NON-HUD windshield since none of the 01's had HUD?
I'm reading that the "THIN" Z06 windshield 5.7lbs lighter than the standard one. Not that that would make a big difference.

The DW1430 windshield...listed as the replacement for the coupe - 300-400 bu cks list
and the DW1514 the designated Z06 windshield 1300 bucks list
They both show the same bug information EXACTLY!
( I browed this photo cuz the two I took didnt come out well)

Guys.. read this....
I went thru this about two years ago.... thru APTech.. the OEM mfg. THERE IS ONLY ONE windshield made.. but they market it under two part numbers.. one for Z06 the second for coupes.. THEY ARE THE SAME withe respect to APTech...

I actually saw the price of the windshield today. It was $1135... the Glass companies cost was $880... It is in fact the HUD/lightweight glass... Found that my drivers side window trim is dry rotted, torn in a couple of places.. Replacing it as well... $444 from GM...! I declined... The glass guy said $340... CRAZY!!

I just had the windshield replaced in my '01 Z a few months ago. The cost of the glass was less than the cost of the rubber trim pieces that had to be replaced. I think the 1430 was the windshield that I got. Paid for it all out of my pocket. Water leaks could not be stopped untill all of the trim peices were replaced. The glass shop said that they could do the job without replacing any of the trim. They finally realized that the trim must be replaced to stop the water leaks. They cut me a bit of a break on the trim.
Why did you get a HUD glass for an "01 Z? They do not have the HUD in the "01, unless you added it.
