Whats up everyone. I have been neglecting my baby for awhile now, but just ordered a few parts to start fixing her up. I put in the depo headlights today, took about 2 hours. Once i figured it out and read some posts-it was pretty simple. I used to think these things were ugly(and i know many of you still do), but I wanted a change from the boring dim old looking flip ups. Ill be looking into an HID kit, and the harness that will allow you to run high beam, and low beam together(with high beams on). I also ordered smoked bumper lights, Momo Jet steering wheel, and a flush rear tail light kit which should be here by Friday. Next, i will be peeling that plastidip off the bumper and getting it repainted back to all silver. A work in progress!

Nice, I like it.
Ive got the same headlights, Started with the driver side and just couldnt get it to line up. Ended up putting the pop up back in.
Any tips for install? Did you remove the bumper? Drill out the mounting holes on the bracket?
Thanks
I installed with the bumper on. The DEPO instructions say to take the bumper off, but really its better to have to bumper on to line it up. Tips? It was pretty straightforward-once you take the panels off from under the car, you can see right up in there. My wife helped me out lining them up-so maybe my tip is to get a buddy to help while u are under there. The way i look at it, if the C5R has similar lights, and C6's got rid of the flip ups; so they cant be all that bad. Either way I'm happy to have ditched those heavy, old, 1980's style dim lights. This is the tutorial I used: http://www.fast-corvette.com/headlightProject.html
No, I sprayed that with PLASTIDIP. My bumper needs to be repainted so i was experimenting with paint schemes. Plastidip is cool because its not permanent. After seeing how it came out, I dont really like the black on the bumper. When I paint, ill be doing all Quicksilver. Check out PLASTIDIP on the forums, and youtube. You can do really cool things with it, and can peel it right off if you dont like it.
I have always loved those lights and the contrast on a yellow/red/silver/white z...not a huge fan of the painted front bumper....but hey to each his own...nice z

Thanks..and I totally agree, I am taking that plastidip off my bumper asap-it is lookin mighty atrocious!

I like the black DEPOS with your silver car.
How do you like the light pattern? I'm thinking of going the DEPO route but have heard from some that the light pattern can be too high even adjusted all the way down. Since mine is a daily driver, I need safe and reasonably good lighting.

Hey Torch,
I finished installing them in the daytime, lowered my car and headed to work. That night, I noticed they were a LITTLE high. I will be getting under there soon to adjust, but they are definitely great for daily driver. Im also looking into an HID kit. With non-HID, i say better than factory(anything is). With HID, they will be really nice. Ill keep you posted when i get under the car. I work nights, so it might have to wait til this weekend.

Do keep me posted.
I also read somewhere (mistakenly?) that HID's actually run a bit cooler, which could help forestall the well-known propensity of the DEPO lenses to spider-web. Interested in how that works out for you as well...and how hard the HID's are to wire up (I am no mechanic but will not pay somebody for this type of work...)

As for the installation-from what ive seen....., it looks really easy. Wiring from car(harness) to ballast, ballast wiring to light bulb. mount ballast-all done. Definitely a do it yourself. im checkin out different websites/ebay for harnesses. I'm happy even with non-hid vs factory flip ups, I'm sure once I do the HID's it'll be even better!
Have you had any issue with them fogging up inside? I ran into two others this weekend with them and both were a little foggy . One had hids that looked really good.
Post up what hid kit you go with I need one.

Hey Bryan...no fogging up at all so far, and i recently moved to the east coast (VA BEACH) from CA and it gets pretty cold at night-so far, around 35F. I couldve swore that on my install, i saw some allen screws that you can separate the plastic housing from the light assembly, in case fogging occurred. Someone correct me if im wrong. but, so far all is well. verrrrrry good mod. My other fave mod is my MOMO steering wheel. yeah i lost an airbag, but the car feels so much more responsive and like a race car, and u can feel the vibration in the steering wheel. No more driving a bus. haha
oh yeah-i am going to go with DDM Tuning for the HID kit. Ill be ordering it this week.
My DDM kit came in the mail today. I never realized how much halogens SUCK until seeing the comparison. I only did one light tonight, so i could get a good picture of the difference. NIGHT AND DAY. Definitely worth the money.
What's up Bryan
55w 8000k. On DDMs website it says if u go higher wattage, u lose a lil color-so 8000k will roughly have the color of 6000k, with more brightness. Regardless of if u love/hate depos...or if u go with the flip-up projectors: HID is a must for C5s.
