C5 Vette stroker kit. need suggestions

My Vengeance-built 418 has plenty of power and is completely streetable. If you can do the work yourself you'll save a bundle. You'll need good heads, a decent cam, an intake, headers, and various other things which I'm sure you know.
A 383 stroker using your existing block is the most cost effective way to get into stroker mode. Using the cleaned up stock bore and a 4inch rotating assembly. You'll still want heads. CNC'd 243's are a good cost effective head or you can go aftermarket castings. Again the cost goes up. Add clutch, UD balancer, cam, etc, etc, etc. You'll probably want 1 7/8 LT's unless you already have them. If you have 1 3/4 you can sell them to defer some of the cost.
Make sure you go into this with your eyes and wallet open. Do it right the first time with a good builder and good parts. Get a good tuner when it's done and have a hell of a lot of fun. If not careful, you'll very easily find yourself at speeds you can't post on CF.
I think a realistic budget to do a 403/418 is around $10k installed and tuned. The 383 probably $8k or so.

IMO, I would build a forged stroker first. That way you have the bottom end for the SC down the road.
Also IMO, I would yank that 98 LS1, sell it, buy a LQ9 or LQ4 6.0 from a truck and stroke that.

If you do not want headaches, leave it stock. Any mod you make has the potential to creat a lot of headaches. and as to it taking a stroker to get good low end TQ, I'm putting 500 rwtq down at 2k rpm.
