Default Possible voltage issue?

Going over a new to me 2000 C5 and noticed digital dash reading = 11.6 VDC. Brought home my Fluke from work and directly on battery I am getting 12.4 VDC. Motor not running.

Put battery on charger overnight, let it sit a few hours and checked again.
Dash says 11.8, Fluke directly on battery = 12.4. Motor not running.

With car running dash says 14.4 VDC, Fluke directly on battery = 14.8/14.9 VDC. The spread between the two decreases when running.

Battery and charging system are obviously ok. Car/starter sound fine when I turn the key to start.

Are the digital dash readings I am seeing typical on these cars?

8vette7,

Thanks for these links!
This site is really awesome, the knowledge base and the level of detail people go into in helping others to fix their cars is something I have not seen on any forums before.

I am also suprised to learn of so many inherent problems in one car. Some of these issues just should not be. Disappointing, but at the same time grateful to be able to take care of these problems and some of them never to occur again with proper upgrade parts, like the bronze headlight gears in place of oem place of plastic.

Thanks again.
