I have read to tap into the fuse panel in the footwell. That fuse #22 has 12v. I have a 2004 that I don't get 12v. At fuse opening #22. Any ideas why I would not be receiving power from there. Im trying to hardwire a escort 8500. Thanks
Why don't you just wire it into the back of the rearview mirror? Can't remember which wires I used to tap into on it, but you can pull the plug out of the back of the mirror and find power(+) and ground(-) there. Has been working fine for 2+ years.

I did that but I had problems with the lights. I sealed out to less and the radar is messing up the lights. I was told to hardwire it to the fusebox.
I used an "Add-A-Circuit" at IPEC fuse #13 (BCM switched power supply) for my Valentine 1 radar. O'Reilly's stocks them...you are looking for p/n FHM200BP. I recommend you use a switched power supply to eliminate the risk of draining your battery if your radar is powered up with the key off.
