Default tire stagger...again

Has anyone put 255's on the front instead of 275 when they can't get a 265 in the tire they want? Many of the 275's are only .4" different from the 295's, and I don't know if that's enough difference.
thanks!

It's enough. But I do think a 255 up front will give a more responsive steering feel. And be cheaper.

I run a 255/285 Ventus V12 set up on stock Z rims and have no issues. Much better than stockers in 265/295 that came on it

I run a 265 front and I think the rim is already close enough to Jersey potholes. The 275 might be a better choice, I've seen many cars with them in front with no problems. Are you putting 18" rims upfront? What tires are you thinking of? The Vredesteins come in 265 and 295 for 18" rims front and rear.

I was leaning, when the time comes to the Vreds, BFG or Potenzas. BFG sizes are what prompted this thread. I like that aggressive tread pattern.

Stick with the 275/40 and 295/35 or 275/40 and 305/35.

I don't see any reason to give up contact patch.

I like that idea. Who makes 305's and can they fit on stock rims and fender wells?

To do 275/40's you're going to need 17" front rims, not 18" if that's what you were thinking of. Whatever you decide, make sure your fronts don't have a thicker side wall height than the rears. It looks weird. The stock Z06 tire sizes are like that and I never liked the way it looked. It is very noticeable to me. That's why I went to 18" front and rears.

[]But what size tire you running on the front now? I did some research on T/rack and Discount tire, 315,305/35-18 only seem available in drag radials. There are more available in the 30 profile, but the diameter is too small. The P/O of my car put 275/40-18's on the rear of mine, dunno why, but they 'stretch' to meet the edges of the rim. So I'm still searching. [/SIZE]
