It's official, my 'Vette is gone. We had 5 good years together, and for not being a Chevy guy, I really liked the car. My LS1 turned in a best mileage of 34 mpg on non-ethanol gas on a trip back from Florida, a few years ago. An amazing feat for ANY V-8 car, never mind a Corvette. My only beef with the car would be miscellaneous squeaks and rattles, and an irritating wind noise on the driver's window, even after repeated adjustments. Would I buy another? Sure maybe in the future I will.
I bought a new muscle car, and got a deal I couldn't pass up, ,and an amazing good trade in on the 'Vette. The car is a limited production model that in my opinion will be a very collectable car in the future, and most importantly, it's yellow. I always wanted my Corvette in Millenium Yellow, just couldn't find one. Amazing enough, when I first went to look at the car, I looked at a red one, I brought the 'Vette in to be appraised for trade. The manager loved it. While waiting for them to give me a price, another buyer pulled up in a red C-6................he turned in HIS CAR and bought the RED BOSS! We are the only two Bosses in the area, and both are former 'Vette owners1
Gorgeous car. I wouldn't call myself a Mustang lover but I do REALLY like that car and I'd have one of those in a heartbeat!! I have heard nothing but fantastic reviews from everyone that talks about it. I happen to be one of those people that believes no car of today will ever be collectible in the same way that Muscle Car era cars are today, unless a current car is just put in a time capsule. Anyway, I'm sure that collectability is not the main reason you bought it. You want to drive it and I bet you will love doing so. It's bad *** for sure - congrats!!!
I like your Mustang. They are awesome cars. Problem is you have created a void that you will have to fill again some day with another Vette. It never goes away!
I think the Mustang and Camaro both played the retro theme very well, however I think it's time for both companies to move the designs forward. Based on some artist renditions I've seen on line, Ford is planning to do that with the Mustang. Good thing, because I think Ford took a step back in the latest tweak that rounded the rear bumper/lights. I personally liked the squared off rear end on the Mustang a little better.
OP - Good luck with the new car. Honestly, I'm surprised that your new (fast) Mustang is handling better than your C5 Corvette. I added Z06 sways, Koni shocks and a thermal tunnel plate and my C5 rides like it's on rails, especially around curves. I owned a couple 80s era Camaros (Z28s) and although they were fast, I got nervous when cornering. I'm sure a lot has changed since then and the new ponies are fun.
I know what you are saying, my Corvette wasn't two weeks old and I swapped in Z-51 springs (slightly softer in rear than Z06) which I believe are PERFECT in that chassis, ZO6 bars, and Z06 shocks. I really loved the handling, but I found the car twitchy on chopped pavement.
The Ford dealership General Manager explained to me that they also own a Chevy store, and he personally had 2 C-5's, he as well believed the BOSS to be the superior handling car. I felt no way, until I drove it, he was right. I live in the middle of Virginia and drive mountain roads every day, this Mustang, solid axle and all, is absolutely AMAZING around corners, it begs to be driven faster each time, I'M TOTALLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS PACKAGE. I can't wait to get the car out on VIR and really shake her loose. The engine SCREAMS at the 7500 rpm redline, and pulls like a freight train down low. WOW! That's all I can say!

The BOSS is a really nice car and I don't think any will argue about it's stock performance. It is awesome, especially at that price. But seriously, are we comparing it to a Corvette 10-15 years its senior? Apples to Oranges right? You can modify but it still doesn't totally replace a brand new package unless you do some really heavy modifying.
I have a modified car, albeit not heavily. I could afford to get a new car but the main reasons I choose my car are the classic C5 looks. Before too long I think many will appreciate that part of the C5 and hold it up there as one of the short list of hottest looking cars ever made in the USA.

You touch on a point that many C5 owners experience. I think, due to the timeless design of the C5, the car still looks too new and modern to many people.
Case in point, a few Corvette buddies and I attended a local mixed car show for charity. It was a lot of fun with a lot of great cars. A couple guys stopped by my car and started talking performance, HP, etc. and one guy mentioned that although he liked what I had done to my Corvette convertible, his new 2012 Mustang Cobra was faster and started talking about HP, performance etc. I then had to remind him that my C5 vert was 8 years old and that if he wanted to make a fair comparison, pull in with an 8 year old Mustange convertible. I then introduced him to my friend who drove his 2012 Z06 to the show...
All in good fun, however the auto industry in general has added a lot more HP since the LS1 was introduced in 1997. Heck, I'm looking for a new daily driver and I'm looking at business sedans that have 330+ HP.
Congrats! Nice ride!! I like the new mustangs myself. I would love to have one in grabber blu with black wheels. The yellow looks nice as well. Some nice seats in there. Are they comfy?
Guess they did not know the Boss 302 will not be made any longer! Keep it. It WILL go up in value. Looking for a low miler myself (investment).
You may be proven correct a long time from now if going up a modest amount is your idea of an investment. A CD, even by today's tiny interest rates, will pay off far more in a given time period than investment in a current day car.

Yes, the looks are timeless. No doubt Corvette nailed it with the C5. As for power, it takes a lot of juice in a stang to top the power/weight ratio of a C5 ,especially if it has mods.
As for your business sedan, at 330 HP you must be looking at the economy cars - LOL! Seriously, I'm starting to consider a new DD too. I like the Lexus ISF and Hyundai Genesis for imports and the 2009.5 G8 GXP or the pending Chevy SS for domestic business sedans. At the slightly lower end, I like the KIA Optima and Hyundai Sonata and Azera. Camry/Avalon is always a safe choice too.

If I had to buy tomorrow, the Infiniti G37 sedan would probably be my first choice and it provides 328 HP. I am about to retire my 2002 Acura TL Type S which is about to turn over 200K miles. The car still looks and performs great and will soon be driven by my daughter who just got her license. I'm moving away from Acura because I want a rear wheel drive car now that I'm no longer living through Chicago winters. Most of my (Florida) driving is between Orlando/Tampa/Miami, etc. so it's primarily highway miles.

Good taste. That model TL S was cool. Your daughter is getting a nice first car.
Coincidentally, my wife just spent a month or two weighing the G37 vs the IS350. Both are very nice and that's why it took so long. She bounced back and forth like a ping pong ball. Looks are a bit different amongst them but both are nice. The infiniti looks a bit sportier but maybe not as much in the sedan. She chose the Lexus because it was considerably quieter than the G37. The G37 has 20-25 more HP but is a heavier car also. Driving several of each, I agreed with her that the Lexus had a more comfortable ride for every day purposes. There wasn't much noticeable difference in power either way.
