Default Nos

I have an 02 C5 6 speed and its fully bolted on (headers, exhaust, x pipe, hi flows, cai, and tuned) at it was rated at 350rwhp. I want more power though....

So I was thinking of putting a 50-75 shot of NOS

What do you guys think? Is it safe?

I dont want something too extreme like a turbo, supercharger, big cam cause i am a daily driver and dont want to be pulled over by cops...

The main reason you might be pulled over by the LEOs is you do something you shouldn't do out on the street - that same thing could happen with NOS. I personally have no desire to put a nitrous system on my car but would much rather go with a heads/cam, supercharger, etc. That's just my personal preference and I realize that those things will cost more than a nitrous system. There are some members here that have NOS on their car and I would assume they like it but with anything, it depends on how well the system is set up I guess.

Supercharge/turbocharge/NOS are all THE SAME THING-FORCED INDUCTION. NOS is the best bang for the buck. Stay 100hp or less shot and you'll be fine. Use a wet system for trouble free operation.

Go for it! Let us know how it works for you. I think 100 horse power at the flick of a switch sounds awesome.

I spent over half of my life in law enforcement and never pulled over a car because it was modded, with the possible exception of a loud exhaust. I've owned my highly modded '98 for over 12 years and have never been pulled over, even for no front plate. You run the risk of getting pulled over in a Fiat 500 or any other kind of vehicle if you drive like an idiot.

Don't read more into my post than what there was. What I said is I have no personal desire to put NOS on my car - didn't say it was a bad thing. I'm well aware of what an NOS system is - just not the type for me. And I know an NOS system costs a lot less than any of the other options and can produce nice power gains. If the OP or you want to put it on your car, feel free to do so - it's your money and your car.

I was told that if a police officer pulls you over and might suspect a modified car, they want bother to check it out so they send you to a smog station (aka state referee) where they inspect your car visual and through computer (for a dyno tune)...i am in california!

We have emission testing here in Illinois, but I've never heard of that. Cars here have to be tested every 2 years. I've always passed with flying colors, even with my mods. I did get an EPA waiver for emission testing the last year because I only drive my car about 1,000 miles a year now. In order to get a waiver, I had to prove that my car is used mainly for show purposes, which is also indicated on my Agreed Value insurance policy. If they can send you to a testing station in California, maybe you should get that Fiat.

People are pulled over every day that should not be pulled over and the police officer was in the wrong. Of couse, this does not mean all police officers are bad individuals or have bad intentions.

Yet, to think people in power positions, such as police officers, don't abuse that power is like saying Obama is pro-business.
