I don't know about 20 years, but before Generation X die, 01 SWs and 04 Z16s would be on Barrett Jackson, I would think.

Holding their value???? Seems like they're still depreciating to me. I cringe everytime I see the classifieds or craigslist or someone asking if $23k is too much for a Z and then a bunch of people chime in and say how over priced it is.

They are undervalued imho. The C5Z was a pioneer car. Still pretty awesome even all these yrs. later

Car for sale: will do 0-60 in 3.9 secs, 1/4 mile in 12.3, top speed 172, stops from 60 mph in 104', pulls 1g on the skid pad, weights 3118 lbs., reliable V8 power, looks gorgeous (FRC), turns heads where ever you go. Oh and did I mention this is bone stock. Only made about 27,000 of them (2001-2004). Cheap I don't think so.
Compare the specs and tell me how many cars can do those things today. Not very many and most of the cars that do beat it we will never be able to afford. Even the new Stingray won't be able to dimiss a stock C5Z06 at will. They are not going to give these cars away. New cars with the C5Z06 specs cost at least what, $60,000 at a minimum.
I believe that the C5Z will hold its value, and down the road will go back up in value.

I agree 100,000% with you... I wish I would have never sold my C5Z, Granted I love my 08 C6 with all the mods and what not but in the end I still wish I would have never sold the car. I personally think that the C5Z will surpass any base C6 in price down the road and WILL go up in price. 1) Because its a Z06. 2) Because of the unique FRC body style that doesnt look dated and is rare... One day I will get rid of my C6 and get back into another C5Z...

Every old car on the planet is collectible. A Gremlin or Pacer in good shape is a collector's item. The C5Z was considered to be one of the high water marks for performance in the decade, so it will most definitely be a collector's item in 50 years. Especially ones that are still stock. Of course who really cares? We didn't buy these as an investment.....or if you did, you need better financial advice!

Have you ever watched a Barrett Jackson or Meacum Auto Auction Show?? There are all sorts and all years of Corvettes that dominate the show.. If the car is in halfway decent/ presentable shape, it will fetch $$$money.. The question is.. How many of our C5 Z06's will be around in another 20-30 years and what condition will they be in? I bet 95% or more of the C5 Z06 owners on this Forum will have moved on and bought something else.. Their kids or grand kids will remember the Car and will be the ones buying these classics.. while we are in an old folks home or driving a 2035 year model Cadillac.. Its just life.. Enjoy the car while you have it and have fun with it.. Remember the little kids in the neighborhood, who turn their heads.. I'll never forget my friends Dad, who had several Big Block late 60 and early 70 model Corvettes, that he purchased used in the mid 70's. I was just a very young kid.. He would take me and his son on wild rides.. We were both able to fit in the passenger seat at that age (9 years old).. I'm on my second Corvette right now and love it.. My childhood dreams of owning a Vette came true! Still looking foward to buying a 68-69 Big Block 427 one day.. Prices are through the roof, but not to out of hand for a nice one!

That's why I just plan to keep my '02 C5Z for a very long time. Its only got 22K miles on it and is basically stock. Bought it new with 3 miles on the odometer, so I know every inch of the car and total history of its life. Love driving it every time I get it out. Even if I wanted a new C7 in a couple of years, I'd have to end up spending my C5Z + $50K on top of that to get into one. I'd rather keep my raw muscle C5Z and enjoy it.

I hear ya. I love driving the Z. I still smile and shake my head every time I get out of her. It's just like you get a permenant grin while you are driving. Love the damn car, they can keep all the other stuff, I know that I can hang, like the song goes "they want me to leave, but they can't make us"! Headers, CAI, tune, we're good for a while.
