Default Trunk partition

Hello all. Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight into trunk partitions. I have a pretty strong exhaust and was wondering how much of that will be quieted and how much road noise they get rid of. Its not terrible but the exhaust is pretty loud at 75 mph. Thanks much and come on spring.

I wouldn't drive my Z without the partition. It helps with the sound, makes stereo sound better and keeps everyone from looking in your trunk. I have the one from Southern Car parts.

They do help. I have a pretty throaty exhaust and I can tell the difference.

For a while I wondered if it wasn't my imagination. Then I had to take it out for a long trip so I had room to store things. It was still more quiet because I had the trunk full.

Then when I unloaded the trunk and didn't put the partition back in for a few days I really noticed it was much louder.

It won't magically reduce all of the noise but it does help. before my partition I had a body pillow I stuffed in the same loaction and that was actually better than the partition but doesn't look as good.

I have one I don't use and I'd be happy to sell it for half of new cost.

A trunk mats helps me some with road noise from the back. I assume it would also help with a performance exhaust.

It certainly helps. I own a vert and it also protects the top when it is stored down.

Please take a look at our verison. CLICK FOR IMAGES 1.5" thick partition has color carpet matched on the back and vinyl wrapped in the front. We also offer GM logo's to bond on the front cover. The unit come with snap fittings if a secure hold and velcro for fast removal.

A few things to consider. There are cheap light weight units on the market but we found that with cargo in the back under hard or emergency braking that the unit would break. Also the A/C works better is a more insolated partition.

I have a z with b&b bulletts. the partition definitley makes a diference in deadening some sound. maybe 10-15percent is my estimation. i take it out every now and then when i feel like hearing more noise. for sure worth getting, especially if you have an frc or z

I've got the same setup as Laser Guided, 02Z06 with Bullets. I use a body pillow in a black microfiber pillowcase. Looks fine and works significantly better than a partition at cutting down the noise.

In my case functionality was more important to me than looks.

Hmm. Got a picture? My vert is loud as heck now with the stingers and catless header set up. Looking for a quick solution.

1.5" thick partition
What is it made of? I have one with the oval plexiglass insert, one side vinyl, the other carpet. I turned it around with the carpet facing the front. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of MDF because to me, it's pretty heavy for what it does.
Thanks!

I don't know about the trunk partition. But; i recently had Vettenuts install their interior insulation package. There is an immediate and noticeable reduction of road noise inside the car. The heat reduction will also be great, next summer. If you plan to keep your car for some time, I highly recommend looking into both layers, of the insulation kit for the entire interior of your car, as a worthwhile investment.
