Default Splash Guards

Going through the threads on fitting C6 splash guards to the C5 and getting ready to do my own. I see on RPI a set of carbon fiber splash guards for the C6 at 189.95 and a set specific for the C5 in fiberglass for 299.95. I like the carbon fiber ones and was wondering if anyone has tried to modify them to fit the C5? Would the outer layer carbon fiber and clear layer be ruined or might it be possible? The C6 originals would cost around 140 and for a couple of bucks more, you've got carbon fiber.
Any thoughts??

Over the past weekend I installed the Lewis 5 splash guards with no mods
They are a perfect fit without any gaps between them and the car

I appreciate your input but the L5 splash guards are 189.95 a pair and Apsis is like $400. I know they are out there ready made for the C5, but what I am looking for are alternatives under the $200 mark even if I have to do a little modifying (I'm retired and I have plenty of time to fiddle). I just can't justify 400 $$ for "splash/mud guards."

For any one's interest, if theses guards at 129.95 are the GM kit 19170234, GMPartsDirect ships them for 114. Problem is the threads on the CF recommend for the most part the ZO6 C6 rear guards for the rear of the C5 and the Stock C6 rears for the front of the C5. Got prices for the rear at approx 115 but no prices for just the rear standard C6 guards. Any suggestions for vendors for those parts?

I found RPI has C6 ZO6 guards custom painted to match or carbon fiber for 179 and 189. Has anyone used these on their C5? Or can you suggest another method to protect the front and rear inner wheel well painted areas from stone chips, tar *****, etc?

The original splash guards for the C5 were horrid. Then a few guys found that they could modify the C6 guards and they looked great on the C5. Shortly afterwards, several manufacturers did the modification and charged 200+bucks for their efforts plus the cost of the guards. If you have the ability or "guts" to modify the guards yourself, why not give it a whirl? And for those who do not feel capable to do the modification, the alternative is to pay the price. Everyone has the option to choose.

The Lewis 5 splash guards need no mods done to them is my point ...
They are only $20.00 more than what your looking at

If the price is still 139.99 from OCT or if it's 164.95 on their website, you need to double that for front and rear. If it was only 20 bucks difference for all four, you would be correct.

I heard a lot of good things about the clear film that protects the car without the splash guard look- unless you want the splash guard look.

I love my C6Z splash guards. They have stopped all the kick up from the front tires. My rockers stay pretty clean now.

Apsis regular black here-and yeah they WERE expensive, but I was too lazy to modify the C6 ones. They have a new model that has a rubber strip that goes between the guard and the body to prevent chaffing the paint.
