Default Zo6 question

It seems like my car is louder in the morning when first cranking up, but as it reaches operating temps it quiets down some. Not a huge difference but noticeable. Does this have something to do with the air pump/emission stuff?

Well the idle RPM is a little higher than usual on cold starts, and then it drops down to 725 (or 750, or whatever it is) once the coolant reaches a certain temperature. That's probably the main thing. Another factor could be that parts of the engine expand slightly as it warms, so gaps between parts shrink, thus resulting in a smoother operating engine.

Mine does the same 01 Z same set up that u have except for deleted cats ... I still have the air pump in it decided to keep it when I was putting my LT's on . I definetly can hear it at cold start up then after min it quiets down ... The only thing I don't like is for some reason I can hear the ticking valve noise up until my oil reaches past 100 degrees I know it's a lot louder because of the headers ... Does your sound like that too?

Haha, yeah unfortunately I hear the ticking also. Longtubes make it way worse but I really dislike it. It sounds like sh$t. Sometimes I think something's wrong with a lifter or valvespring, but it's done it ever since the longtubes. Plus the car runs really strong so I guess it's fine
