Anyone ever use the plated ABS plastic gauge bezel rings, big plus not super glue by the cluster.
Ive seen them advertized for 1/3 price compared to the aluminum stainless type,I have not tried them, but do have the aluminum style and can say that the illumination reflects off of the rings at night in a purple/bluish color which I think is neat, doubt you would get that effect off the painted plastic style rings, but also wondering how they would look.
I've never seen plastic bezels, but since the price of the aluminum rings has come down quite a bit, I wouldn't get plastic. The metal just has more real sheen to them. No problem installing with superglue, I've had them for several years with no problems with them. They definetely are worthwhile upgrade. They are what the dash is missing for a high-end finish.

I've not seen the plastic ones either, but have seen a number of cars with the aluminum ones installed - they look great. I think if I ever put a set on my car, they would be the aluminum ones.
I have them. You would never tell they weren't aluminum. They have a nice sheen. As far as I can tell, the actual polymer used is silver, as it was molded. They do not appear to be painted. They are very pliable, and the peel-and-stick backing makes gluing the aluminum ones a laughable task.

Plastic are the way I'm going, did not like the super glue one mistake and the dash is gone

I have the plastic and yes you still get the purple/bluish hue.
I installed the al ones in mine but I used the amazing goop instead of superglue. Took my car a month later to VIR on July 2nd - 105* outside and probably 130*+ inside my car. Ran 2 days and rings are still on today. I am sold on the amazing goop. And yes, they look really cool at night.

I bot a set of the Al's last summer on sale . Then I read the install instructions. 3 to 4 hours ! Went to install videos and help here on CF.
does not look difficult . Just a slow process so I put it off til this winter. Well its winter here now . Snow on the ground . So I guess I'd better get on with it because I also need to deal with some kinda haze on the inside of my guage window that drives me nuts.
I have also read that the guage window plastic is very soft so can anyone recomend what to buff out any micro flaws ?
3 to 4 hours is a good guess for the job. I added set of Aluminum ring last spring and I was very pleased on the results. One tip is on how to clean the pastic cover, because as careful as you may be, there will be a finger print or dirt. Do not use any type of window cleaners it will leave streaks. This may sound strange, but Lemon Pledge will make the plastic look like new. If you have fogging problems or fine scratches they will go away. Just spray it like you would any table top and use a microfiber cloth to wipe it down. If your worried try it on a piece of plexy glass and you will see it works.
