Default Noisey Lifter

98-C-5 65 K After my last oil change, my engine developed a noisey lifter during start-ups , after the car has been sitting for 5-6 hrs. I,m using M 5-30 syn. Change oil and filter every 5 k. Oil pessure reads 40 lbs. on start-up. Is there any products that might help. I think that some dirt must have gotten into the engine. 1 st time i had someone else do the oil change. Approx 64 K on the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My stock motor developed a ticking checked oil flushed motor and drove it until it broke one of my Rocker arms and it let loose qty 36 .093 roller bearings and I had to find all of them and buy new rockers dont let it go dont try and add some marvel oil. Take the valve covers off both sides and make sure you dont have a messed up rocker. I will say this these LS SERIES MOTERS SOUND LIKE SINGER SEWING MACHINES in the lifters it will only take 2 hrs. to check it out well worth it.

Oil pressure is 40 at start-up? I mean really at start-up, when it's stone cold? What's the idle oil pressure when warmed up? Mine(125,000 miles) is about 28 when hot, and I have no issues with any valve train noise. runs up to 40-50 when rowing gears. Now when it's COLD it runs up to 60 + when rowing gears.

BUT, IF you DO hear valve train noise.... pull your covers and inspect your top end. Better safe than sorry I've been told and it doesn't cost you a thing.

Check it out yourself or have someone check it. Good time to perform the Comp Cams trunion upgrade to avoid those little rocker arm bearings from ending up in your oil pan and throughout your engine. Oil pressure should be up around 40psi while cruising unless you have a high volume oil pump.

I have the same issue on my 99 GMC pickup. When I changed oil a few days ago, I put in a quart of Marvel Mystery oil. I drove it on a trip and now, I am not hear the lifter knock.
