Finally bought another c5
Just picked up a 2002 z06 yesterday that was in absolutely outstanding condition for it's year/mileage. car has 90k on it but was garaged and dealer maintained for life. same guy owned it since 2003. i even got the VHS tape and tire inflation kit. car is 100% stock right down to the paper air filter and only has a couple minor glitches that i need to take care of. one is the HVAC display screen. the controls all work but the screen isn't lighting up, the other is the oil pressure sending unit is shot showing 130psi all the time. besides that everything works really well, interior is the best i have ever seen in a 90k mile car, not even a crack in the drivers leather. even has newer bridgestone re760 tires. the guy i bought it from retired from park place ltd which is a big exotic car dealership in seattle.
best part, i got the car slightly under manheim average @ $15k
i was kind of leaning on getting a c6 but i couldn't pass up a deal this good. c5z's are typically hard to buy around this price level unless they are rough
so, i'm going to figure out how to repair the HVAC, get a new sending unit. order a new radiator and hoses just because of age and that dex-cool it's filled with. grab a set of sachs 2004 z06 shocks and enjoy the car

Nice! Start working on qualifying for collector car insurance now....another benefit....my 97 costs just $400/year for insurance.

thanks guys. i just ordered up a few parts today
ac delco 24458L and 24388L which are the upper and lower coolant hoses and an ac delco 20889 radiator.
i was kind of surprised but that delco radiator is within a few cents of an autozone radiator.
seemed like a no brainer to go oem

I'll describe it here, as the OP may want to know as well. Grundy insurance, declared value of $20k, 12 months full coverage, should be cheaper if you don't live in Michigan....big part of that $400 is my state's no fault insurance fee of $135, or so. Simple application and just have to include a pic of the car....bingo, approved.
