Them up. Thanks. Jerry

It should have instructions with it- if not, key is to clean the indentations on the bumper really, really well to promote adhesion and remove wax. I used rubbing alcohol and then a bit of adhesion promoter.

It's chilly, so I used a small space heater and then used a hair drier on warm setting once the letters were in and heated them up with gentle pressure.

Good luck - - post a picture when you're finished ?

Clean the recessed area thoroughly with 90% alcohol.
The letter should be installed in temps above 70 degrees.

Agree w/previous posts. Suggest using tweezers to apply & Q-tips once in place. Good luck!

Some very good advice above on installing the letters. I bought a set from Ecklers and used the same procedures to do mine - worked very well and the letters have stayed put for quite a while.

After cleaning apply with lots of water so you can slide them if you are a little off, then wipe and air dry.

Rubbing alcohol actually has oil in it

Always use Denatured Alcohol for cleaning

Better yet, get stainless steal. I had the acrylic ones, looked like crap after 90 days. I've the SS letters on for years, still look great. I hope you have better luck, YMMV.

I'm with Barrynk on the stainless. I put them on my black 04 after somebody on here told me they looked best especially on black cars.

I'm still on the fence on the stainless steel. The first letters I put on front and rear were the vinyl brushed-silver look. I really liked the look. The rears are still in pretty good shape but the fronts were beat up - half of the C was gone. I got a good deal on front and rear stainless and have put the fronts on.

I'm not sure I like them - I prefer the brushed metal look to the shiny chrome look. I also liked that they fit inside the recess of the lettering rather than raised from the surface. The brushed metal look vinyl go for about $10 for front and rear on the auction site. If I have to replace them every couple of years, that might not be so bad.

My main concern is getting them in the right position without them
sticking before then. I like the suggestion of putting water on area
So I can slide them in position first. I did not know you could do this
With that type glue on back of letters. I will clean area real good and
try the water. Incidentily, my car is red and I'm using black letters.
I also have the blackout taillight coverings which are not on yet.
should be clean looking. Don' t want it gaudy looking. Thanks.

Thought I'd throw in my two cents on this topic. It's not directly related, but might be helpful. I purchased my Vette with the black plastic (acrylic?) lettering already installed by a previous owner (and I do like them very much).

A couple of months after I got the car, I was cleaning/shining my baby while it sat in the garage and I noticed the middle leg of the last 'E' was very loose and just about ready to fall off. I went ahead and took it off and then went looking as to the best way to re-attach it. Found my tube of Shoe Goo and a little light went on. I put a small layer of the Shoe Goo on the plastic and stuck it back on. It's thick enough that it'll hold the piece until it dries plus it's pliable enough to move around or take off and reposition if needed. After an hour or so, that piece is so solid you can't believe it. I also used Shoe Goo to attach my 9 light LED strip above the chrome exhaust plate (exhaust plate light mod) and it performed exactly the same way. That stuff holds like crazy. Highly recommended for permanent repairs and the price is right. About $6 most places and it will last you a LONG time.

If you want the letters to stay on, I suggest you use a 3M product Adhesive promoter #4298 and if you get a 0.5 oz. pen, just soak a Q-tip and apply the Adhesive Promoter to only where the decal or letter, (I installed a whole 50th. Anniversary kit on my 2003 and it's like their weld on. just my $00.2 !

Use denatured alcohol and not rubbing alcohol. It seems to me that temporature and humidity have a lot to do if they will stick or not but the instructions should address those issues.

Polyurethane won't matter. Shoe Goo isn't at Walmart anymore but is carried at CVS Pharmacy and at Riteaid. Here's another big list of the same question:

Hope that helps...
