Just bought a 1999 hardtop in texas, and I am in missouri, going to trailer it up here on Wednesday or thursday this week. I have a 20' dovetail trailer and was wondering the best way to strap the car to not damage anything. Any help or ideas would get you a big thank you.
Call a reputable towing company in your area and ask them how they do it to avoid causing any damage. Just a thought. Congradulations, enjoy your new to you ride.

The jack puck holes are where the tie down locks can go. Cross them in an X pattern under the car. This is how the wrecker driver will do it. Column lock helped me learn this a few years ago.
Getting it on the trailer will be more of a challenge than the tie down. Even with a dovetail you need some long approach ramps. Take someone with you and drive it home. Money well spent!
Congrats on your purchase. Check the weather...snow/freezing rain is forecast for the southern Missouri and northern Arkansas for Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Thanks for all the ideas and help, been watching the weather like a hawk, and everyone that I would trust to drive Any of my cars is either out of town for the holidays or going to be working so just me and a lot of red bull. I built some 10' ramps yesterday so that shouldn't be a problem. I will get some hooks tomorrow.
They will be salting the roads around here like mad by the looks of it. I'd hate to have my Vette on an open trailer within a week after they do all that salting but you gotta do what you gotta do.
North of Joplin, south of Kansas City, east of Pittsburg, KS. Ah, one more thing I miss about Texas is they don't salt the roads. But The last 2 years I haven't seen salt on the roads around here and not too worried bout it either, if it was my 89 GTA it would wait until a box trailer had been acquired (it doesn't even see rain).
This is the 4th vette of the family. The previous was a 05 c6 z51 auto in blue (traded in for an 07 ram 3500 hemi 4x4), before that a 1980 in black, and the first one was a 1979 in red.
I have had 1 too many bad bus rides, good idea though. Train costs way too much, and a plane ticket at christmas time I don't think so. Forgot to mention the vette needs new rear tires the ones on it are bald, racing slick bald.
