C6 shifter boot and ****
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I've searched for 2 days and couldn't find an answer. I'm getting the MGW shifter for my 02 Z and wanted to know is it possible to install the C6 shifter boot onto the C5 boot ring. That way I can just buy the MGW shifter set up for the C6 style ****? And bypass modifying the stock C5 boot since it won't match colors anyway. I saw ZIP Corvettes had the Centinneal edition alcantra **** and boot and that's what I was looking at getting if its possible.

Just an fyi, I have the MGW with a stock c6 **** (had recovered by DSV). I also am using a DSV shift boot. My **** is designed to use the ring that connects the boot w/ the ****, but I'm not using it. I prefer the clean look and don't like the chrome ring (nothing else in the C5 interior is chrome). Just another option for you...

Thanks for all the replys I went ahead and ordered the Alcantara Centennial **** and boot hopefully I'll have it late next week. Vettefan how did you remove the chrome ring from the boot or was it done when it was stitched?

I was thinking about this combo myself but since there is nothing else inside my car that is suede i'm not sure how well it would match with the mod red theme.

I'm right behind you. I ordered my MGW shifter 2 days ago but they told me it could take up to 2 weeks to get shipped. I'm still debating whether to go with the centennial combo (like yours) or the black leather with red stitched boot and ****. How hard was the install? Any other parts needed than what comes with the MGW kit?

I just picked up a 97 last night and the only thing bugging me is the worn out shifter boot and ****. It looks too outdated to me. I'd love to put the c6 style in with a new boot. Where can I find somwthing like the ones listed above and how difficult is the install.

I installed everything in about 2 hours and that's with 30 minutes of having to fish out the little Allen key when I dropped it into the tunnel. I ordered the Centennial **** and boot from Zip Corvette.
