Default Mystery

Is anyone smart enough to know what the two gray devices are in this photo?

passenger footboard removed, looking forward to the left (inboard) end of the fusebox recess.

I guess it's possible another member will have these fitted since they have the look of an aftermarket mod.

Thanks in advance ..... hopefully!!

Cheers, Andy

Edit - now I look more carefully I think the yellow connectors and the thick pink wires are not original

Have you, or do you know if Lojack was installed on the car?

Thanks for the suggestion - had to google Lojack!

I don't have one fitted now and the previous (only) owner never mentioned that a Lojack had been fitted. I guess I could call him if he is still around.

Cheers, Andy

I googled images for "car tracking transmitter" and none of them looked like those.

The two gray boxes are part of the serial data bus. This is part of the cars wiring.

Thanks for that confirmation about the gray devices being original - I guess I should investigate the yellow connectors. The wires coming from them appear to be cut and taped off.

To be honest, I can see more clearly in the photo, than on my knees with a flashlight in the passenger footwell!!

Gary's right. They're called "star" connectors, essentially connecting numerous subsystems to the data bus. The yellow connectors are definitely not original--dunno what they are.

Those yellow connectors look like fuse holders or something like that... do you have an aftermarket stereo or some kind of similar aftermarket item on the car?

Yellow is switched. Orange is unswitched (always on).

Thanks for all the info, guys - will investigate and get back with result. May be a day or two as it's a bit of a squeeze getting head and both arms into the footwell

Cheers, Andy
