I'd like to hear from people who have shipped their vehicles. I'm looking to bring a C5 from Ohio to Massachusetts. Anyone know of a good broker or shipping company that will get my 'Vette transported?
After doing much research, I went with FedEx Transport. Had my vette shipped from Winchester VA to Omaha NE. Same service as Intercity, but was actually cheaper and faster. I'd certainly hire them again.

I was about to buy a nice C5 from Wyoming and ship it to Pennsylvania. Checked out many transporters and just remember that cheap is cheap. Depending on the vehicle's condition, how do you want it transported: outside or enclosed, to your door or to a depot, etc. You need to check out everything before you commit. The best proposal for enclosed transport to my door (2200 miles) was $1800. I shipped a Harley enclosed from PA to Washington state for a Canadian buyer and the charge was 1250 (from my local Harley dealer to the buyers place of work). BTW, I ended up buying my garage queen C5 85 miles from my house. Bottom line is, if the car is fantastic and the price is fantastic, it will pay to ship. The alternative is to fly and drive it (about 650 miles?).
Just had my Z06 shipped from Anhiem, CA to Reading, PA w/ open shipper company name is GEO Express INC. they did a great job and had it to me in about 6 days. Price was $750.

These guys delivered my new Grand Sport.
I would highly recommend them
1200 from MD to WI
Thanks for all the replies. I've used open shipping before, with a Z06 shipped from N.C. to MA, and had no problems. As this vehicle is a salvage vehicle, I think 'open', as opposed to 'enclosed', is more than sufficient. I'm leaning towards a company called Autologistix - if anyone has any feedback, I'd be grateful to hear
I just used InterCity Lines. Excellent serveice. He had 6 cars on board, all classics or sports cars. I had my car shipped from PA to WY. I can email you pictures if you are interested. Very good business and a site sponsor.
I used Reliable with the same type of rig . To transport my 03¸50th vert from Grants Pass OR. to Canada . Recomended by the previous owner and was good advice . Very Professional and careful. They transport high end vehicles a lot. I do not remember the drivers name but he told me a number of horror stories about transporteres who do not take the necissary car. ie outdoor unprotected martialing yards to wait for full loads. not protecting convertible tops from oil drips from cars above if it needs to be in a bottom stall etc. I was very pleased and would use them again automatically . Cost was fair . Many thanks to the previous owners .
There was a guy at work who had a mint Porsche Cayman shipped from Florida to Montreal. He wanted to save a few bucks on the shipping so he hired a local trucking company. Well, they obviously had never transported a car so they sent a flat bed truck and tied the car down by passing chains through the suspension A-arms. Well, to make a long story short, all four A-arms snapped by the time it got here along with other miscellaneous damage to the underside. It was a sad sight. He had to sue the trucking company for the damages ($6000.00 worth).
The lesson here is hire a reputable automobile transport company. It may cost a little more but I think it's worth it in the end.
