Thermostat went out
On the way home today, my thermostat went out and the temperature guage pegged and the reduced power warning came on. After changing the thermostat and filling with coolant, the engine still ran hot. I double checked everything. Fans were working, hoses were all good and no leaks. I logged onto this site and did some research. I narrowed it down to air in the system. I remembered a trick my Dad taught me when I was younger and it worked perfect. I removed the upper radiator hose from the radiator, held it higher than the radiator and began to add more coolant until it began to trickle from the radiator. Re-attached the hose and problem solved. Thanks to this site and Dad, the repair was quick and painless. This forum rocks

While I don't like having issues with my car, it's great to know that pretty much everything that can go wrong on our cars has probably been discussed on this forum. Including how to fix it!

Guess thats one way to burp the system. Most of us get that last bit of air out at the head cross-over tube or fill, bring up to temp and add coolant....repeat untill full. Thanks for the "tip".
