Help me remember. Leading up to the introduction of C5, were there all the 'artists renderings' of what C5 might look like, as we see now of C7?
Anyone have those photos (if there were any) to post up? It might be fun to see those vs how C5 actually turned out (as we now know).
And then, in a couple weeks, we can see how close these pre C7 photos got close or not; to how C7 will look.
Still remember the first time I sat in a C5 right after they came out. Some were on display at a local mall. My first thought - finally a Corvette I can fit in!!!!!!!
I recall seeing some artist renderings of the 1997 Corvette and there were a lot of details that were off. The lines in the drawings were more swoopy and exaggerated. I get the feeling that it will be the same situation this time. I really really hope they're wrong about the tail lights.
I don't remember there being as much hoopla about the C5 design in the year leading up to its reveal.....
....then again, I was only 11...and didn't really follow corvettes....and didn't have the internet...and corvette forum didn't exist...

I'm sure many of the car magazines had spy photos posted, but don't recall as many as there have been for the C7. Can't wait to see what the car actually looks like.

The key word here is INTERNET.
Even just back to 96/97 we did not have the ease of immediate info about anything. Nowadays, both the consumer and the merchant/advertisers use the internet more aggressively than any other medua, with TV being a close (but expensive) 2nd.
I do still remember the first time I saw a C5. WOW !!!!! I wasn't even sure what it was though I am a total car-guy. Still looks great even with 2 generations after it. The C6 never did really grow on me as far as styling, we will see about the C7.
Me, I think it is ALL GOOD. Bring on the newer versions, I will drive what I like best....whatever that may be. Best part about it, once you are in the Corvette Community, you are always part of the family.
Before the internet there were the magazines - I'm sure I saw renderings or spy photos is rags sch as Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Vette, Automobile, etc... just don't have any around anymore...
Internet sure is easier storage!

Well, I don't have any for a C5 but I do for the C4....
When my grandfather had passed at age 94, he gave me a ton of his old Motortrend magazines. Below is a rendition of the C4 that appeared in the September 1980 issue of Motortrend,

That's actually dang close considering the car did not come out until 1984. WOW
