After 10 years of owning my 02-C5 with 15k i have decided to sell my DD and use the vette everyday and i love it!!What an a$$ i was for not doing it sooner. Its running better and getting great mpg.I even kicked out of my garage and turned that into my own "man cave" which is priceless when you need some time away from the wife and kids!!It still has the factory wiper blades and washer fluid and they both work mint.....
Drive it ..........!!!!
When GM was working on the C5 program they wanted it to be a car that you can drive everyday!! I am very impressed on how everything works so good from the Defrost operation to the traction control system, and the mpg, im getting 19mpg city which is GREAT for a V8 sports car.
The other reason i did this is like everything else the C5 is getting old.Mabey because my car is white it does not turn heads or attracts attention and thats just fine by me.The only thing I wont do is drive it in the snow, when the flakes fall on goes the cover and battery tender.
I love this car now more then ever and she is happy to that her jail sentance is over.........rock on
PS awaiting c7 unvailing,............DONT LET ME DOWN GM
I can't believe so many deprive themselves of this. I bought my car with 99k on the clock, now has 108k, doesn't seem to care one bit. All the crap that wears out is crap I wanted to upgrade anyway, so at least I'm getting my money's worth out of those parts in the meantime. What's the point in driving a beater every day knowing you've got that gem in the garage? That said, mine sits a lot in the winter, but it doesn't exactly hibernate either.
The only reason I do not drive mine more, is the fools on the road and road hazards.
I want to keep mine looking pristine, but hard to do with tractor trailers throwing rocks (have to put a new windshield in my DD now), parking lot idiots in SUVs who think it is their duty to chip your paint, etc.
I love driving my Z06 and because of work, have not been able to drive it all weekend.
Isn't that what insurance is for? Or are you hoping to sell it at Barret Jackson in 20 years? Every time it sits a week and I get in and drive it, I end up driving it every day for the next week or 2.

I hear you, when go to a parking lot i tend to find an island and park by that far away from all other cars. Two months and counting not one scratch
Not to drag this out this thread(im very board today),but i do have another point on this matter. The value on our C5's are tanken, you can now buy them for bird seed so why not just enjoy it.GM made so many of them they will never be collectables.
I don't drive in the snow because I have an F250 4x4 for that. Otherwise, drive it daily (Illinois). I did drive it in a snow storm a few weeks ago because the truck battery was dead. Did just fine.
I don't avoid snow because I think my car is valuable. I do it because I have a truck, and it would be stupid not to drive it, instead of driving a rear-wheel drive sports car.

I believe you are wrong about collect-ability of the C5. Production figures notwithstanding, due to attrition, the numbers are dwindling regularly. I'm not suggesting that they are the next 63 split window but I predict that time will show the C5 to be extremely popular along the lines of the muscle cars of my youth. We all know what supply and demand had done in that arena.
All that said, it's no reason not to drive them. I can't daily drive mine because I am usually pulling a 16' enclosed trailer. But I drive mine year round weather permitting, no snowmobiling and I avoid the rain when possible, but other than that I look for reasons to take her out! Winter time is my favorite leisure driving seasons because there are no bugs. Luckily, I don't have to deal with much salt residue in my neck of the woods.

I drive my Vettes (when I have one) every day it's not raining. Why don't I drive it in the rain? Cause I spend too much time polishing them and I don't want to drive a dirty looking Vette. Nothing to do with the car, other than looks.
