I was real sure that the 2002 Z06 was going to be our next purchase. Last night, Leslie (levettegrl) was kind enough to let me drive hers(Thanks, Leslie). I now not only know what our next car will be but I also understand why all of you driving Z's are always smiling.
The only word that comes to mind is: incredible. That is the only word I can print without being censored. I've driven other C5's and they are great cars. However, the Z is in a class by itself.
Think how I felt, jumping from a BMW M coupe into the ZO6, my first ever C5 drive. I made the trade immediately and haven't looked back since!
Yeah, I was into European and Japanese cars until a friend of mine made me do 0-120 on a straight deserted on ramp at WOT in a 1991 ZR1. I just didn't grasp the depth of performance of these cars. One drive in the 2002 Z06 and I was hooked!!! I'm still pissed the ride with my friend cost me 50K but, once raised, the bar cannot be easily lowered...
These cars are truly amazing. I was pretty content with the 79 L82 & the 84. My daily driver is a BMW 325i. Now I've got thoughts of ditching all three for a chance to own a Z.
Most, even former and current Vette owners, just don't understand how well this car performs right out of the box until they drive it the way it was mean't to be driven, RPM up above 4000. I let my oldest son drive mine, (he has a 96 LT1/auto Coupe), he was grinning from the time he hit 2nd gear until he left to go home, well after getting out of the car. The only way to explain it is with the right foot.

I think I got as much or MORE enjoyment watching you come back around from your short cruise and seeing that grin on your face!!!
I am tellin' ya-you got the keys anytime you want a day with her to open it up:) Now, just imagine driving your Z with the exact COLOR you want! heheeee.
My Z06 Black 01'/Mod red interior is now a C5R TT LPE 960 Bhp and 1040 Lbs Tqe.9wheels) and I have enough boost left to add another 1-1.4 LS6's under my hood but its a daily driver and tame but I really miss my STOCK Z06 they are so awesome!!!.When Biz and the stock market pick up I will buy another 01' and limit it to bolt ons and some porting and polishing and of course we do great Dyno Tuning so if you guys are close to AZ. I'm always good for 15-35 rrwhp on a Z06 with bolt ons a cam/head is where the 35 ponies come from and on average its 2-400.00 and that includes pre/post print outs suitable foe posting.Feel free to inquire and the fun part is your there with your tech to offer up suggestions and ask questions ANY questions there are no dumb ones only some stupid answers.
So if your in or close to AZ. bring in the Zee and for 2-300.00 we send you
home smilling BIG SMILE and not many do it as good as XTREME its all we work on.
And while your there in the same price we will adjust auto shift pts./speedo for gears/rev limiter up or down/fuel air through the entire rev range etc...Where else after doing the work and getting the old VOODO 1 size fits all chip for 500.00 RIP OFF IMHO can you find 25 ponies for 150-200.
BE Healthy and good luck,If I sound like Im bragging its only because I live for this stuff secially pulling hidden power that I know is there and increasing Volumetric Efficiency is to me what its all about and finding the customer FREE ponies is great we too could do mail order and we keep your program on file so if you make a mod we will do minor changes at 75.00 a pop and if you have a bud with the same mods we will be happy to download your info on his/her chip and you can share that too is in the 75-125.00 range and we dont LOCK our chips so anyone can get in and you can share the program with others 5 Z06's in your club all same mods assume tunning costs 225.00 bring the other 4 boxes with you and we will download them for a minimum fee.Dave S.

Re: Now I understand ! (Mark 84ltblu)
I got to drive a Z exactly once, a couple of months ago. A friend had just picked up an EB '02. I got to drive it, but it wasn't broken in, so I couldn't pound on it. Going easy, it didn't feel much different from my convertible -- but I stress here that I was babying it since it only had maybe 100 mi on it. I liked it! Unfortunately, it was completely destroyed last month when a tree fell on it in a freak windstorm. Fortunately, no one was in or near it at the time. It only had 162 miles on it  , and still had at least half of the original fuel in the tank. I've been trying to persuade him to buy another one, but he's just holding onto the settlement for now. He got more back than he paid for it! Go figure...
I'm hoping he gets another one soon so I can try it out... :reddevil
I nearly got a Z myself, but I just had to have the open roof! Took me quite awhile to make that decision. Good luck, and hope you get one soon. :yesnod:
