Default Need advice/help

Hi first post dah da da dahhhhh...anywho the nuts and bolts of it. Ive been looking at getting into a newer supercharged Vette for sometime now, Im an older muscle car guy at heart but want the performance/handling as well as the creature comforts of a newer GM muscle car....Hate the new camaro's looks...epic fail by GM and have always loved the stylings of the corvette. Ive been aproached by this fella wanting to swap me for my muscle car 67ss nova. I know didly squat about the vettes/motors and how they perform etc....Ive done quite a bit of reading on the net these last few weeks, but would like to get some first hand information from the folks who love, own, and drive them every day. Im not sure Im posting this in the right place on this forum and apologize if I am. Heres the ad:

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/3522676001.html

I would like to know what else should I ask him aside from already stated in the ad, what do I want photos of(its a 5hr drive) so I cant really eyeball it all that easily, talked to him a few times...mostly about my car. I did ask who did all the work(professional mech/shop)motor came outta a 2000ss maro w/15000miles, upgraded to ls4 heads, the vette itself has 53000miles, and has 3200 stall converter...but thats about it. Trust me I do not care if I sound like a fool, Id rather look/sound stupid and make a good decision then try and act like Im the man and get hosed.

I LOOOOOOVE the looks of this car, could give a rats behind about the stereo stuff, more concerned about the motor/running gear/mods. So any advice yall who are more in the know could give a potential new vette owner would be mucho appreciated as Im outta my league on this era of vehicles...thank you in advance,
bjammn

I like the vette too. This car needs to be taken to a shop
that you trust and checked out. The usual stuff, compression, suspension, rack etc. The shop should check
to see that the car has not been under water; alot of grey
cars around right now because of Sandy. If everything
checks out positive---you have a new ride. Good luck.

Default wow thats a lot of advice so far....lol

I appreciate yourt response man, but taking it to a shop I know and trust before hand isnt going to happen....fellas in MI im in southern WI....I guess I was hoping for a lilttle more technical in depth answers on the what to look for/ask about in the LS motor line and the C5 line especially in a modded car.

You might want to try a thread and ask if anyone in the car's area could look it over for you. The people on this forum generally are very helpful. good luck. Saw it was an automatic, might want to know what rear end gears are in it. Looked pretty clean. Don't have to worry about rust in these vehicles.

Might also post over in the C5 tech section.

You should DEFINITELY get under the hood stuff checked out and since its out of town for you, you can always take it to the local Chevy stealership for inspection. I for one am against going to the dealer for anything but in this case since you are out of town this will be your best option. Call the local Chevy stealership to make sure they have a Corvette tech available, make an appointment, have the guy drop off the car, you pay for the inspection and if you can drive up there to see what the stealership has to say then even better. Many a times I have found that IF something is wrong with the car the seller declines the inspection right away and that's your clue to call off the deal.

You might try posting your question over in the C5 Forced Induction/Nitrous section - bet someone over there can give you some good items to have checked.
