As most of you know I recently sold my T-1 and went to a Vortex, before I sold my T-1 I had a dyno that had all my present mods and the LTFT's as close to zero as possible with the MAFT. The last dyno even had the Halltech Ported Throttle Body and new Race Filter. The last dyno #'s SAE corrected were 361 rwhp and 349 rwtq.
Well today in the 100 plus degree temperature I went down to dyno, took an hour in the blistering heat to get there. I pulled up on the dyno car hot as can be and BOOM, 369.8, 369.2, & 371.1 rwhp SAE corrected.
Torque was 355.6, 354, and 355.1 The dyno operator was surprised how much the T-1 dropped off at MAX RPM as the Vortex was extremely smooth at that same RPM, in side by side comparisons, at one point there was a deviation of 24 horsepower with the T-1 losing. No wide band oxygen sensors, so I still haven't dialed in the WOT. This is all with a Ram Air intake that is getting no Ram Air. Needless to say I was impressed! In case anyone is wondering I ran 150 miles between Intakes just to make sure there could be some consistancy with the LTFT's which are so close to zero it is amazing.
What I've been saying all along. :D I recently took my Vortex off the car since I'm preparing to have GM buy it back when I have my day with the BBB. Anyway, I took it off and replaced it with the stock system...... night and day difference. I went for two quick rips and was amazed at how much power was gone at upper rpm. Noticable butt-o-meter (sotp) difference.
Needless to say, I love it. If I end up with another C5 it will be going on it the first night.... along with the SLPs and !cag. :chevy
It bugs the heck out of me though why our cars aren't more consistent. You showed great results and much better numbers with the Vortex vs the T-1 but there are others (non-Jim Hall relatives/employees) claiming exactly the reverse. Go figger, eh?
The main thing is you've found a combination that obviously works great for YOUR car. Congrats!
