I put one on my 98 coupe last summer. Can't see any noticable difference in the performance or the mileage, but I have mostly been driving in city traffic asince then. This spring or summer I'll take a long trip and check my gas mileage to be sure. I think I paid $69 for it and it took about 10 minutes to install, so no biggy.
Return it if you can and put the $70.'s toward a mail order street tune from East Coast Supercharging or COW. You will get better gas mileage and performance, and if auto better shift points.

I have a 2002 Coupe with an A4 and I sent mine to COW to be tuned and the turn around time was less than a week from when I sent it and got it back, I have to say when I installed the pcm back in the car I had a whole new car, Chuck is very helpful and very knowledgeable. Money well spent and if you ever need a change he will help you out.

Is a tune from COW only going to make a difference in an automatic, or a modded car - I have a stock Z06 - was curious if it would be worthwhile getting mine done.

I think a COW tune will help all cars, You won't believe the throttle response.
