Default True Horsepower

Hi guys, I read that G.M. (Chevy) lowered the true horsepower number from 425 to 405 on C5 2004 Z06. I didn't hear anthing on torque. True or false.
Thanks.

The important hp/tq numbers are rwhp/rwtq. the C5Z06 RWHP stock is normally between 345-365, give or take 5 hp either way. The number you are refferring to is the hp at the crank that the motor produces. the RWHP is measured at the rear wheel after losses from tires, driveline, etc. (PS, most of the C16-04Z06 guys like to think they have more hp stock than any other year)

True above...

... about the Z16 guys. That's not true at all...

2002-2004 Z06's are all rated at 405HP at the motor, and dyno around 355 (+/-10) like said above. Mine dyno'd 357 at the rear wheels bone stock.

My Z16 dynoed 357rwhp back when it was absolutely stock. I think 345-365rwhp is a spot-on assessment.

Since our Mustang buddies got busted for over estimating their HP all manufacturures rate their cars conservatively.

Rear wheel is all that matters, but all dynos are different.

My '03 pulled 354.82 at about 20k miles and 359.8 at 50k. The car just passed 100k miles.

BTW, Yellow is faster. That is why they race in yellow. A friend said you have to run fast if you are yellow.
