Default best hid kit for c5

hey guys I was looking to install some HIDS on my C5. I was wonder what are the best kind for the money? I own a black c5 what kind would look the best, if you have pictures please post. Installing a HID kit would still leave the pop up head lights and just be changing out the bulbs right? Is there anything I should worry about while considering doing this? Thanks.

I went with RadioFlyer's modified ACA bi-xenon kit. It's a complete replacement (housing, lens, bulbs, harnesses). Be careful getting cheap HID bulbs only. You will blind other drivers. Stock lens aren't meant for HID bulbs. Do it right, get a complete replacement.

Projectors for sure. We currently have a set that won't break the bank and provides good useable light

I also was just going to do the bulbs, but did a little more research and saw for best results, you should have new projectors. Bought mine from forum vender Corvettemods1. I installed the HID Fogs, Halo around the low beams, HID Lows, and HID Highs.

To do it right you will need to change out the headlight units for ones with projector lenses. Most are using the ACA headlights or ones modified by forum vendors like JW Motorsports and Radioflyer. The change out is not difficult but will take some mods to the pivot bracket in some instances. Search the forum for ACA headlights and you will find some threads on how to do it. The following link shows them on my black coupe.

I bought the low and high beam HID kits with slim ballasts from Corvette mods and am very happy with them. Pretty simple install, but made sure to get the resistor so that the buckets would go down in low beam. My only gripe is that when some dumbass cuts you off you can't autmoatically flip them with the high beams because it takes a minute to warm up. The low beam visibility is great. Not sure that Ilike the projector set up yet, but I may come around. if I do, I will switch it out with the stock one but it is not necessary to begin with.

Those look really good!! How much will I be spending around 300-400 I assume? I'm hoping to buy them within a month if I can find a friend to help me install them.. If its not too difficult might give it a shot myself.

If you just want the low beam projectors and halos they are $299 from corvettemod1. I also purchased the fog lights and high beams from him as well. They were around $440 for all of it. It's a pretty simple mod. Took me a few hours because I did it in my garage when it was freezing cold out (no garage heater). If I were to do it again, I bet I could do it in about an hour each side.

I went with only the HID bulbs and slim ballasts with resistor kit from CorvetteMods. I did both the headlights and fogs... Very happy with the product. I would have liked to have done the whole housing... but for now it will suffice!

Just installed projectors on Sunday. I purchased mine from Corvette Mods and opted for the 55w ballasts, but did not get the HID high beam package, plus CM offers a lifetime warranty on these kits. Definitely updates the look as well as provides functional head lamps. The hardest part is modifying the headlamp bracket, a couple of "ribs" have to be lowered to allow space for the new low beam projector. Not sure why the projector hasn't been modified over the years to accommodate the standard light bracket. Be careful not to do what I did. While removing the "rib" I accidentally hit the long vertical adjustment rod and it snapped off right at the gear housing Haven't had a chance to align the lights, they look pretty good so far, so I don't know yet if that's going to matter. I hooked up the halo's to the cars low beam wires so they come on when the low beams are on rather than another power source, since I usually don't drive around with the buckets up without turning on my lights, and I love the look. Neil at Corvette Mods has been great to deal with. I ordered their standard 6000k bulb but it didn't quite match the light hue from the clear corners I also purchased from CM, so Neil graciously offered to send me 8000k bulbs to see which one I liked best. I also had to hook up a resistor to get the buckets to close without having to turn on the highs even though I have the 55w ballasts.

Definitely get the projectors vs just replacing the bulbs, you won't be sorry. My son and I did the swap out in a few hours, most of the time spent lowering the "ribs", and we are not the most gifted mechanics in the world.

Default Trouble with my install...

Can any of you guys help? I just had these HID Headlights Installed from CorvetteMods.com and had them professionally installed. I have a few issues that I need to work out and so maybe one of you guys knows the answers: When it gets dark the "twilight" feature of bringing the lights up work but don't turn on until I turn the switch on the L/R blinkers column. And when they go down, 75% of the time they go "mid-way" sticking out of the hood. I have to play with turning them on and off rapidly and sometimes shutting the car off and on to get them to reset and or close. Why is it when you buy these things they never tell you you might have a common problem or give you a heads up in advance?

I went with RadioFlyer's Bi-xenon kit, which I consider to be the best available. It's not the cheapest kit for sure, but it's the only one that addresses the hi/lo beam alignment issue innate to the ACA and stock C5 headlights.
