The windshield installer called and asked me to come in this morning since everything arrived. I was so glad to get my baby in there to be fixed. The owner was there with his 2 helpers and they proceeded to disassemble the windshield and mouldings with utmost care. I was impressed with their work so left it to them, I didn't want to hover over them. It was only a couple hours later and they said come and get it at 12:30. Wow, after I looked at it from all angles the work was superb! The moulding was OEM from the GM dealership and after years of me using aftermarket kits of varying quality weatherstrips, it was absolutely beautifully executed!
Local guys in Lufkin, TX called Glass Technology, turned out the owner was my daughter-in-law's Uncle. But seriously, I first was referred to another local company but they refused the job cause they didn't want to deal with the trouble of getting the moulding(That was their excuse) so I had to find this shop.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the final cost for everything?
Thanks!
Chris
I only paid my deductible, so the total price was between the installer and the insurance company. I do know they came to an agreement which was all that mattered. My windshield was $374 and the moulding was whatever the GM dealership wanted, and you know they always want a LOT.
Glad you got it fixed without too much blood shed.... its nice to hear your beautiful car is now even more beautiful with a clean new windshield... its nice when you car looks newer than before...
Thanks for the nice compliments, it was a odd feeling driving such a nice looking car as this is with a cracked glass. Most never noticed, or politely didn't notice. Once you get a car up to such a level of mods, it's almost sinful to drive it dirty or with obvious damage.
It's also true in the respect that every corvette should always be taken care of, but alas it is just a car to most anyway. But ALL my Vettes are catered to, even my beautiful C4.
I need to get mine replaced. Have a crack that keeps me from passing inspection. Just scared to pull the trigger because I haven't gotten any great leads on a shop.
