I am looking to get some real world feed back from those that have upgraded their engines as far as what kind of gas milage you get after the mods? I know it's kind of silly to think about gas milage and horsepower gains but I do love the 32mpg I get on long trips and the low 20's mpg I get in the city.
With that said I was thinking about a cam, heads, intake to the tune of about 500hp at the motor...
Anyone with mods like these? Or heck forced induction also, please chime in!
About 18-20mpg on average at about 500ish hp. I can play with the display and find a long downhill and get 25-35mpg but you know that's just wishful thinking and deceiveing yourself.
Some can get more, but I'm driving kinda laid back these days.
You got to remember, either you want more power or you want gas mileage but you must choose one.

Agree with Rick , if I keep my foot out of it I'm about 20 - 23
I have a 427 in my C5. I get 19-20 in normal driving and 26-30 on the highway. When I had heads/cam or heads/cam/super charger I got 20-22 in normal driving and 28-32 on the highway. These numbers are with 3.73 gears and a 6-speed.

I know you run a very small cam for a 427 and that's the key. Big displacement and big cams are hungry critters. I get about 24 on the highway but about 17-18 overall driving anyway I want to.
My 2000 frc with ls6 intake, full exhaust and cam kit that comes with the usual was averaging around 24 to 25 city highway combined, I have a heavy foot though. That was with stock heads and of course dyno tune, 418 at rear wheels, I thought with my driving style that was pretty darn good.
I'm averaging 24-26mpg on the highway. No idea what it is in town. I was getting about 29mpg with just full exhaust, Halltech Venom, and tuned...before the supercharger install.
Car is an 01 ZO6 with full exhaust and an A&A Vortech v3 at 10lbs. Put down 572/482.
Mods in the Sig. below.
Daily driving my car 120mi a day on the highway the same way before and after the SC, I seem to have lost 2mpg
Not bad but I was told I would gain 1-2 more then happy thou.

Well those numbers dont seem that bad, I know one guy in my old Corvette club that had similar mods and got like 20mpg but I think he need a tune job badly.
Thank you all for the input! It has been very helpful
How ya ll get that kind of milage in town. I have a stock ls1 and can get 29 on the interstate but only get 15-16 in town and I drive like im hauling eggs !

I have ported heads,CAI,headers,Corsa exhaust and had a real small cam a few years back and got almost 32 on the Hwy. I changed to EG's Whiplash cam and that shaved off 5 mpg. In town, well it sucks,it's a lopey cam and it's thirsty no matter if you have your foot in it or not. It sure sounds good though
