Default Corvettes at Carlisle

Where is the best place to stay in Carlisle? City/Town, and close to the action.

At this point in time, I'd say wherever you can find a room. Rooms fill up quickly and way in advance of the event. I have to book my return room as I check in the previous year, the hotel fills up immediately. Places in other towns, not as fast.

There is a new Holiday Inn Express under construction right at the Pa Turnpike Exit - not sure if they taking reservations yet. But there are several newer hotels in the immediate area, but above is correct about places filling up - I'd recommend that you start looking ASAP - and book.

Stay in Harrisburg. Its right up the road, better hotels, lots more places decent to eat at than Carlisle. I agree that finding a room elsewhere might be difficult but if you have to stay in Carlisle make it the LAST RESORT and if you want a room you better reserve one now. Also might be a good idea to talk to the hotel directly as opposed to online services. Mechanicsville isnt that far away either. WARNING!!!...Do not book through the "Cheap-o-Stay" website!! Also do not book a room at the Rodeway Inn at Carlisle. That was the only black eye on the whole trip. Rooms were raggedy, constant strangers (NON CORVETTE OWNERS, NON HOTEL RESIDENTS) walking through the property IGNORNT OFFICE STAFF. Very expensive considering it looks like MOTEL. Half the property is falling apart, noise most nights. Im warning everyone that plans to go this year, Rodeway Inn IS NOT RECOMMENDED!! If you stay in Harrisburg orMechanicsville, youre only 15 min from the fairgrounds. Take your time and do your homework when you rent your hotel room. Also it will be much tougher to get a decent rate the longer you wait.Youll be close enough to the action whether youre in Harrisburg or Mechanicsville.Nothing pesonal against Carlisle residents but as a first year attendee, my girlfriend and I got a good lesson.

I live in Boiling Springs which is 10 miles SE of Carlisle. Rodeway is a dump and hads not changed in the 20+ years that I have lived here. Sorry you made the mistake; before you book again, ask on this forum and one of us locals will give you the real skinny. BTW, it's Mechanicsburg. The Hampton Inn is nice and near the TPK; so is the Best Western. Harrisburg has a lot of motels on 283; I wouldn't pick any others in Harrisburg proper. The two Mechanicsburg motels will fill fast since they are 20 minutes from the Fairgrounds. Harrisburg motels are 30-45 minutes out dependent on traffic. If you don't mind driving, there are some nice motels north of Harrisburg on RT 81 as it gets closer to RT 78. Personally, I would not park my Vette in any of the other places. At the end of the day, pick a place; if you don't know the area, PM me or write me on this forum and I will give you the real story.

Another option is Chambersburg which is 30 minutes south of Carlisle, a straight shot down I -81.Lots of good places to eat and stay.Exit 17 just added an Olive Garden,Texas Roadhouse,Longhorn Steakhouse and a couple others in the last 6 months.Numerous chain hotels at exits 17,16 and 14.http://www.hotelsbycity.com/hotels/u...cyj4AodC3MAKA#
