Default c5 to C6 again.

Has anyone moved from a C5 to a base model 2006 C6.. Just curious if a 2006 base model is a big step up.

Ask this in the C6 section. Plenty of people have made that jump

I had a C6 for 5 years - - terrific car - -tighter, alittle faster, more creature comforts . . .doesn't feel quite so low to me and has more interior room. Very similar driving and handling but definitely more torque and seat of the pants power.

Once I put a Billy Boat exhaust on it, it actually sounded like a Corvette too - - even better gas mileage than the C5 . . but when a pickup has a meaner sound than a C6- you GOTTA make changes . .

I gotta say, I'm enjoying this C5 as well or better . . .more fun- frankly.

I think if I were to make such a move, it would have to be to a little newer C6 - one that has the LS3 motor in it. Just my personal preference.

If we were to go from a C5 to a C6 we would be going to a 2013 C6. I wouldn't make the change for three years. If I could afford it I would make the change to gain 10 years. That's the only reason. We like the beauty of the C5 so we're going to take care of it as best we can and see what happens. It is my wifes DD and she loves it for what it is. She keeps it spotless.

Not sure about moving to a 2006. I think 2008 was the year Chevy moved up the base HP again. If you make the move, might want to consider going a little newer.

Didn't you post this same thing a day or two ago?

The only way I would get into a C6 is only if it was a Z.

I looked at a low miles 08 (16,000) C6 with the LT3 package for 38,500 and then decided to go with heads, cam and long tubes on my C5. Very happy with the performance @ 425 HP to the ground. For me I just really like the C5 body better.

No, this has never happened before in Corvette ownership history.

This^^

I now have a C5 putting down 450 at the wheel. It is going to take a lot to make me leave that.

I've been thinking about possibly making the "move" as well in a year or 2....I'm just not 100% sold on the idea that a C6 is THAT much better overall than my C5. I've sat in a few C6s(although I have not driven one yet) and for some reason it just didn't feel as "nice" inside. Some of the plastic pieces just had a sort of "cheap" feel to them, but the seats were nice and the exterior was spot on. I would probably get a vert if I made to move.
