I recently painted a set of extra calipers I had for my C5 using the Duplicolor kit. I scraped the lettering off which turned out great. However, there are a few runs in the paint and I was wondering what would be the best way to fix this? Can I sand them? Using what grit?
some paints do not sand well at all, i have no experiance with that paint.
as to avoiding runs with a rattle can make sure you are sprying from far enough away (follow the directions on the can) it does make a diffrence.
have you tied to use the razor blade method? you take a single edge razor blade and cut the corners off of it then bend it in the center then use the blade to scrape the paint down a little but at a time (the blade is drawn across the paing with the sharp edge perp. to the painted surface so that is does not dig in and just shaves a little off).
I agree 400 grit should be fine, and if your kit didn't come with stripper then you can pick some up at your local auto zone. I recommend restarting, gives it a finer look when painted right all together (just my opinion).
They even sell clear coat in a rattle can, can give it a real nice shine for an extra 15 bucks, helps draw more eye's!
