18 x 265 (or 275) in the front and 19 x 305 in the rear seem to be a real popular sizes. No mods necessary. All sizes fit perfectly and look great. I'm running the above sizes but with the 18 x 265 front option. Very happy with it all.

18/19 setup is probably the best compromise between looks and ride quality IMO. However, there is no problem with going 19/20 if you're into show and bling.

or then again you could keep the proper size, have the speedo work accurate and retain vehicle value

Changing the rim size will not affect the speedometer whatsoever as long as you stay with the same overall tire diameter in the front and rear.

I have 19/19 and love the look. The ride quality is light years better in every way than my stock 17/18 with Z06 GoodYear SC tires.

Its hard to pull off the right "look" with anything larger than 19's on the C5. The tire sidewall just gets too small. Just my opinion though.

I have the 18" fronts and 19" rears on my 2003 Z06, running Michelin Super Sports all around in the following sizes:

265/35ZR18 Front
295/30ZR19 Rear

Ride is super and handles like it is on rails.

What do you mean by this? How is it unaffected if you change the rim size? Just curious I'd like to go 18x19 when I get new wheels

Go with what ever rim size you like. As long as you are close to factory tire diameter your speedo will barely be effected. For example I'm running 19" rears with 305/30/19. My speedo shows 60mph, and my actual speed is 60.4mph. That's nothing to worry about.

Your doing your homework before jumping into a big $$ purchase.
Thats better than some I have seen on here.
Good for you !

If you go with 18/19 then go with:
Front- 275/35/18 (or 265/35/18)
Rear - 305/30/19

If you go with 19/19 then go with:
Front- 275/30/19
Rear - 305/30/19

As for retaining vehicle value ?
I'm laughing quite loudly right now.
Where do some people come up with this crap huh ?

Toque nailed it. I will add that as soon as you are forced into 25 series tires (20" wheel) you will have so little side wall you'll create a shiity ride.

I agree. All track/racing issues aside, the C5 just shines with 18/19 or 19/19. All I would add is to give serious consideration to the Michelin PSS tires.

I do like some of the 19/20 setups I've seen, but it seems difficult to find a broad spectrum of tire makes with an adequate sidewall.

Ask me how I know!!!
I researched the forum like crazy and heard all the warnings and still went with a 19/20 combo. Just liked the C5's I was seeing with that combo. So I went for it and also lowered it on aftermarket bolts, C6Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 swaybars. Ride was horrible! Lifted it back up some and got another alignment. Still rode horrible! On a perfect road it was fine but just couldn't take the harsh ride. Every pothole I would hit would knock the fillings out of my teeth and make me cringe thinking I just bent a wheel. So now I am in the middle of switching. I bought a set of 18/19 HRE 547r's with Nitto Invo 275/35R18 & 305/30R19 tires. Also installing a new set of Pfadt Featherlight coilovers.
On a side not, the factory brakes look tiny with a 19/20 wheel setup. they look so much better with 18/19's.....
