As the proud owner of the one and only "Ron Paul Liberty Corvette", I just purchased my second corvette last week. It's a 1978 Pace Car in good condition. There is a classic car rally next October from Beijing to Shanghai that I plan to drive with this car. In China there are VERY few classic cars and even fewer American classics. I believe this car will be the star of this event even though there will be some cars that are worth more $$.
I know the pace car should be in the "C-3" forum, but then I also have the C-5 and since the title is "Bought my second" It was a toss up what forum to put this under. Mods can move it if they feel so inclined...
Can you post some pics? I'd love to see it. Both of them, actually.
It's in the shop getting a bucket list of repairs done (nothing major) but when I get it back, I'll take some pictures of them together. The pace car looks like any other though. It's in good enough shape to be something you would like to be seen in but not so good that you are afraid to drive it.
They do all the paperwork and provide lodging in 5 star hotels for the 10 or 12 days (I forgot) along the route from Beijing to Shanghai. They get you a temp driver's license and do all the paperwork for getting the car across the border. I have to pay shipping (which they arrange) and I understand it will be about $5000 each way. I cannot leave the car in China and have to agree to ship it out after the rally. IF someone in China is interested in buying it, I can "ship" it to Hong Kong and they can take possession of it there.
