So I wanted to know if a mod of just heads with no cam is worth it power wise does it have a significant strain on your engine like a cam would be. And also do the bigger heads still able to pass smog?
(3rd question is more for California drivers)
IMO doing a head swap without even a mild cam is a waste of time...sure there are gains to be made but since you have to get the car tuned anyway and when you consider the cost of a cam while you are "already in there" I personally don't see a head swap with an othwerwise stock motor being worthwhile
in regards to "strain" you could get a nice relatively mild cam to make good power without going crazy and regardless of choice you will need to upgrade certain parts anyway....if you are concerned with accelerating wear on the motor you probably shouldn't be changing anything anyway.....more power no matter what will increase wear its just a matter of how much how quickly.

good luck with your decision
You've already got the car torn down quite a bit, so going the extra to put a cam in would be a good decision.

The engineers who designed this car had no idea what they were doing. With the help of JC Whitney and other aftermarket part suppliers you can make your car "more better". The original vehicle is obvoiusly underpowered and needs help because all those internal parts like heads and cams just need to be changed ASAP. Good luck with you emission test after your improvements
