I actually think avoiding the bolster is easier on the C5 than the C4. Anyway, no issue for me and I rarely think about this. The fact that I weight 145 pounds allows me to easily maneuver the entry and avoid the bolster.
Those of us who haven't seen 145 since Jr. High School absolutely hate you for this!!!!!!!
Personally, I'm part of the "butt in first then swivel ths legs in" crowd. Gotta get in like the stove-up old man that I am.......but I will get in!!!!!!

Reason: spelling.
Getting in I place right foot in and grab top of the steering wheel with right hand and plop straight into the seat without touching the bolster and roll my left leg in....
Same here...I basically use the same technique (in reverse) to get out. Just put my left leg out first and use it in conjunction with my right hand on the wheel to get up/out. Avoid the bolster everytime.
Getting in is a controlled fall....Like most, right foot in, grab steering wheel and DUCK! (forgot to do that once and managed to damage the headliner)
Getting out: Left leg out, left hand push-up on bump below latch. I usually find I have to do a bit of a one-legged hop once most the way out to re-center my balance so I can drag my right leg out.
To get in i put my right foot on the floorboard and the back of my arm at the top of the windshield and ease myself into the seat. I know it sounds crazy but works for me. I knew sliding down the bolster was going to tear the seat up so changed my method. To get out I do the much used hump below the latch.

Like they said above, open the door and FACE AWAY FROM THE SEAT, then lower yourself in - I use the inside door handle as a support. Once seated, just rotate around. Exiting is the same proceedure. Rotate around and place both feet firmly on the ground and then stand up.
I always keep the targa off and use my Window Valer to lower the windows then jump in Bo Duke style through the open window/targa area. Seat bolsters still look great!!

I'm surprised so few people use the wheel. I hold myself off the seat with the right hand on the wheel, drop straight onto the center of the seat, and swing my left leg in. I never touch the bolster. I'm especially conscience of the bolster since I just put in some new HD foam.

I learned long time ago to never use the wheel for leverage, Maybe the C5 isn't like the older Chevys, But I had a bunch of wheels get loose for using them to pull myself in my old Chevy trucks.
