Hey guys!
I love my Vette to death, I got a 2002 C5 and its one hot piece of machine. Im not bored with it at all, but I do like a change every once in a while. Does anyone know of a good mod got a C5 that cost Less then (or maybe a little more) then $200.00 that will switch things up a bit? anthing to upgrade what I Hear, SEE or FEEL would be much appreciated!

JWM. A bit more than $200, but both an appearance and a safety mod. Just an idea.I have seen one set installed and, guess what, mine will be here Tuesday! That is how much I was impressed with them.
best mod I have done to my Vette so far is the cool-it! when in traffic or driving on city streets it keeps her in the 160-180 temp range instead of 220-230 range! And it is only a hundred bucks!
The biggest bang for the buck mods I've done to mine are hands down Racemesh grilles and the site vendor Brakemotive's cross drilled/slotted rotors and pads. Racemesh grilles were $300 I think but totally transformed the exterior of my car. Can't say enough what a difference it makes in the look of the car. They look unfinished without grilles, especially the side coves! The Brakemotive special on rotors and pads for $180 to your door is a smoking deal and a night and day upgrade. Makes the wheels and brakes look sooooooo much better. Paint the calipers at the same time!
How much did breaking increase? I love the look of drilled rotors, are the sizes bigger than stock?

To be honest, I'm not gonna tell you the car stops better. I don't do a lot of heavy breaking to really compare to the stock rotors and pads that were on the car. The things I can say improved are the looks and the fact that they don't produce all the brake dust like the stockers did. It makes the brake system look high end rather than rusty, dirty, average looking. Not what you expect to find on a nice sports car.
I just got my first vert this past Saturday. A 2005 c6 convertible. I already ordered 2 of the stainless steel magnaflow mufflers #14335 for $212 from Summit Racing online. These will add a much nicer sound even though there won't be a hp difference. See this video
Third, my car already has a light window tint (looks to be about 15%) from the original owner, I wouldv'e done this to any vette for under $200, I think it looks tasteful. 15% isn't too dark, but it adds a classy look. My car is silver with a black top. If it was triple black I would go darker IMO, just looks better!
Also, if you have th ability to add an ipod hookup, I would. Then you can even access an app from your iphone (if you have one) that will play music from any radio station, who needs XM at that point?
Cold air intake would be another great one, but from what I imagine you'd have to spend $ to get your car tuned to properly utilize it.
A day on a roadcourse where you are supposed to take every corner where the only limit is fear!!! Try an HPDE event and you won't think of anything but better brakes for the next time out.
- $100 (4) new 2004 Goodyear Stock Run Flat Tires
- $9.75 (1) Can of VHT High Temp Metallic, Black Pearl Paint for the Calipers... This color really gets close to the MSG paint.
Picked up a set of Stock GY's for an 04 C5 MSG convertible last summer from a forum member who changed his tires after purchasing his C5 and still had the stock tires left after he upgraded to a C6. Got all four for $100....sweet deal
Picked up a can of VHT High Temp Metallic, Black Pearl Paint to hit the calipers with while the tires were being changed. One can did the trick for all four.... Thought about powder coating them but this was such a cheap and quick fix for now. Gives me a chance to see if I like it first.
How about a really good paint restoration. Pickup a DA polisher and start with removing and wax and/or sealant with a good washing with Dove detergent. Then clay bar the entire car. Touch up those nicks we all get. Polish the paint with Menzerna or another product to get rid of fine straches and swirl marks. Start laying on a high quality sealant/wax or your choice.
Pull the wheels and give them a really good cleaning and sealant/wax. Clean the brakes and suspension pieces while the wheels are off.
Your car will thank you and look like a million bucks and be within the budget!
