Default Mysterious Check Engine Light

I took the 2000 out for a drive today, about 60 miles.
25 miles out the check engine came on. Ran fine. All gauges looked good.
I finished my loop and went straight the the local parts store to borrow there code reader.

I shut the car off to go inside. Came out and connected the reader.
No codes?
There wasn't a single stored code. Started the car and no check engine light.

I don't like it when they randomly come and go.

Any ideas?

cool thanks. I did not know the code reader could not read all codes. Will use this method from now on.

I pulled and looked up all the codes. The dealership killed the battery while they had it and that accounts for most of these.

B2282 H = Battery Circuit
B2283 H = Battery Circuit
B2284 H = Battery Fault
B2285 H = Battery Circuit 2

U1064 H = Loss of comm with BCM
U1096 H = Loss of comm with IRC

B1001 H = reset air bag.

I am wondering about the last 3. I cleared them all and will wait to see if they come back

I had my 9 year old with me in the car. She could not see out the window so she kept pulling
her self up by the grab bar thus taking her weight of the seat. Could that trigger the
air bag code and have turned on the check engine light.

There are no lights on, on the dash.

Should I be worried about the two loss of communication codes?I believe this to be true:
This is a normal software function as long as the DTCs have a history status upon ignition cycling. No repair attempts should be made.

the u codes were in A0-LDCM, A1-RDCM and BO-RFA

the b1001 was in 58-SDM

I did clear them all, that way I can see what comes back.

thanks for all your help.

I don't have emissions ... I can do anything to my cars.
No inspections, no emissions. I just need insurance card to get my plates.

If it was not raining I would go try to trigger the light again... oh well... I am prepared for next time.

I opened and cleaned all the engine compartment, sill, door and footwell ground plugs with contact cleaner and a coat of dielectric grease that my 01 quit throwing codes like these. Funny, too, in that mine had no visible corosion or misaligned plug contacts , since it is real low miles and never in rain , snow or salt environs. Just the galvanic oxidation from current flow seemed to be enough to corrupt them. My IPC was actually cutting off along with the HUD. These things are sensitive for sure.
Clean them there grounds!!
